Another Super Kings Player Ruled Out Of T20 League With Injury

Things are not going well for the Super Kings franchises across the globe as the injury list keeps growing. In the latest development, Super Kings’ MLC franchise, Texas Super Kings, have dealt a massive blow as Nandre Burger has been ruled out of the tournament.

The left-arm seamer played two matches for TSK and was left out of the third match because of his injury. Eventually, the management sent Nandre Burger for scans, which ended the tournament for the Proteas seamer.

Nandre Burger Out With Back Injury

The scans revealed that Nandre Burger has a stress reaction in his back, and if he continued playing, it could have resulted in a stress fracture. Therefore, as a precaution, Burger won’t further take part in MLC 2026.

“Nandre Burger is leaving MLC for a prolonged period of rest and rehabilitation after recent scans revealed a pre-existing stress reaction in his back,” tweeted Texas Super Kings.

Talking about Burger’s MLC season, he bowled six overs in the first two matches and picked up a solitary wicket, with an economy of 6.67.

Dian Forrester Joins MLC 2026 As Nandre Burger’s Replacement

On Wednesday, June 24, the Texas Super Kings have named Dian Forrester as Nandre Burger’s replacement. The Proteas international rose to fame after the southpaw made his international debut against New Zealand in March. The youngster showed promise in that series as he amassed 83 runs in 5 innings, averaging 27.67.

The 25-year-old made his List A debut in 2023 for the Knights. He is a proper all-rounder as he scored a century and picked up a five-wicket haul in his maiden game. He gained instant popularity and rose to fame over the years.

2026 is his breakthrough year as the 25-year-old signed up for his maiden PSL stint recently. The youngster played for Rawalpindi and had a decent tournament. Notably, he scored 132 runs in six innings.

Later, he was signed by CSK for IPL 2026 as Jamie Overton's replacement. Now, Forrester has joined a unique list of players who have featured in both PSL and IPL.

Super Kings Franchise Unlucky With Injuries

The ongoing year has not been well for the Super Kings franchise as they have been unlucky with injuries. Talking about IPL 2026, the Chennai Super Kings dealt with 8 injuries that ruined their campaign. The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side finished 8th on the table.

The likes of Ayush Mhatre, MS Dhoni, Dewald Brevis, Jamie Overton, and Nathan Ellis were few prominent names who were injured during IPL 2026. 

Similarly, in MLC 2026, Burger’s blow is a huge problem for the Men in Yellow are placed 5th on the table with just one win in three matches.

Ruturaj Gaikwad Speaks On Injury Problems

CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad recently spoke about CSK's struggle with injuries and added that even the best of teams would struggle.

“Even if you look at the successful teams like RCB, if you take away three or four major players, it is definitely going to have an impact. Those are factors a lot of people don’t take into consideration. It is a results-driven tournament, and everyone expects CSK to do well every year because that’s what the franchise has done for 15 or 16 seasons," he said, speaking to Sportstar.
