On Tuesday, June 23, India are celebrating 13 year anniversary of lifting their 2nd Champions Trophy title. On this day, under the leadership of MS Dhoni, the Men in Blue beat England in their home and scripted the unthinkable.

It is a memory etched in everyone’s heart where England required 6 to win off 1 ball and R Ashwin bowled the last delivery. Moments later, Captain Cool broke his character and jumped high in the air. 

Long time has passed since that achievement and most of the squad has even bid adieu to the game. Therefore, this article will shed light on India's 2013 Champions Trophy winning team and where are they now?

Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Dinesh Karthik, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav

Where Is India's 2013 Champions Trophy Winning Team And What Are They Doing Now?

Rohit Sharma

2013 Champions Trophy was the first tournament where Rohit Sharma was asked to open for India. He scored 177 runs in 5 innings. At present, the hitman has announced his retirement from Tests and T20Is.

The 39-year-old is only active in ODIs, trying hard to remain fit and make it to the 2027 ODI World Cup squad.

Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan won the golden bat for being the top scorer of Champions Trophy 2013 (363). Notably, Shikhar is no longer active in cricket and announced his retirement on August 24, 2024.

In present times, Shikhar Dhawan features in a few World legend leagues across the globe and his latest appearance was in Big Cricket League, where he scored 89 runs in 2 innings.

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli scored 176 runs in 5 innings and didn't had the best of tournaments. Similar to Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli has also retired from Tests and T20Is. The 37-year-old too is only active in ODIs and looking to break Sachin Tendulkar's record of 100 centuries.

Dinesh Karthik

Dinesh Karthik, in five games, scored just 82 runs and had a flop tournament. Kartik too announced his retirement in 2024. Since then, he has been doing commentary stints and has also taken up coaching stints.

Kartik is currently the mentor of Royal Challengers Bengaluru and has guided the Rajat Patidar-led side to two consecutive titles.

Suresh Raina

Raina had a terrible campaign as well scoring just 17 runs. The left-handed batter announced his international retirement in August 2020 alongside MS Dhoni. Since then, Raina too has been busy with commentary stints with Star Sports for IPL.

His last appearance on the field was during Worlds Legends T20 2026 where he scored 86 runs in 5 innings.

MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni won his 3rd and last ICC trophy for India as a captain. The captain cool announced his retirement on August 15, 2020. Since then, MSD has been active in IPL and was supposed to play IPL 2026 as well.

Multiple injuries ruined Dhoni's plan and failed to play a solitary match. Now it is a waiting game till IPL 2027 whether the 44-year-old returns to play for CSK or announces his retirement.

Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja took 12 wickets in 2013 Champions Trophy and won the golden ball for his performance. Over the year, Jadeja emerged as a strong prospect across all formats. However, at present, Jadeja has retired from T20Is.

The left-arm all-rounder continues to be an active player for India in Tests and ODIs. However, he has fell behind Axar Patel in the pecking order in the fifty-over format.

R Ashwin

R Ashwin had a decent tournament where he picked up 8 wickets and bowled the crucial final over in the final. The off-spinner too has retired from international cricket. At present, the 39-year-old is playing Major League Cricket.

Notably, Ashwin is the first India capped player to play Major League Cricket. 

Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 6 wickets in 5 innings in that tournament. The right-arm seamer was an active part of India team till 2022. Since then, Kumar has been playing in IPL and trying to return to the Indian team.

The last two seasons have been brilliant for Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The right-arm seamer has 45 wickets in last two editions and won two titles with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, starting a fresh wave of appeal for his India return.

Ishant Sharma

Ishant Sharma had a great 2013 Champions Trophy, where he picked up 10 wickets in 5 innings. The right-arm seamer has not announced his retirement but is not a part of the team set-up for a long time.

At present, Sharma is part of Gujarat Titans in the IPL but failed to get a solitary match. 

Umesh Yadav

Umesh Yadav took 4 wickets in the tournament. Similar to Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav has not announced his retirement. He recently played in Vidarbha T20 league and also does commentary stints for Star Sports.
