In a significant development, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced its 15-member squad for the upcoming one-off Test against Zimbabwe, which will begin on June 28 at Harare Sports Club.

The match marks Zimbabwe's return to Test cricket after an eight-month break and will also be the opening fixture of Bangladesh's all-format tour of the country.

The tour starts with the five-day Test in Harare before moving to limited-overs cricket. The ODI matches will also be played in Harare. It is vital to note that the 1st ODI will be played on 6 July, followed by the second ODI on 9 July and the third ODI on 11 July.

The three-match T20I series will take place at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. The T20I matches are scheduled for July 15, 17 and 19.

Najmul Hossain Shanto to Captain Bangladesh Test Squad vs Zimbabwe

The BCB has announced the squad for the upcoming one-off Test against Zimbabwe, with Najmul Hossain Shanto set to lead the side.

The squad includes a few notable changes, with wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das missing out due to injury. Litton is currently recovering from a left calf strain and was also unavailable for Bangladesh’s recent T20I series against Australia.

"Litton Das is recovering from a left calf strain and has already missed the recently concluded T20I series against Australia. The BCB Medical Team has assessed his condition and is of the opinion that the batsman will struggle to attain match fitness for the Test within the available timeframe," the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said in a statement.

"The BCB National Selection Panel has called up 27-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman Mahidul Islam Bhuiyan as Das's replacement in the Test squad," it added.

In Litton's absence, Mahidul Islam Bhuiyan has been included in the squad. The selectors have also rewarded top-order batter Towhid Hridoy with his maiden Test call-up.

It is important to note that Zimbabwe have also named the squad and handed the captaincy to fast bowler Richard Ngarava, who will lead the Team in Test cricket for the first time.

He was appointed Zimbabwe's Test and ODI captain in December and is now set to begin his leadership journey in the longest format of the game.

When Was The Last Time Zimbabwe And Bangladesh Faced Each Other In A Test?

The two teams last met in a two-match Test series in Bangladesh during April and May 2025. The series ended in a 1-1 draw, with both sides winning one match each.

Zimbabwe made headlines by winning the opening Test by three wickets. That victory was especially significant as it was their first Test win in four years.

Bangladesh, however, responded strongly in the second match and secured a victory to level the series.
