After Fatima Sana, Shadab Khan Picked To Play England's T20 League

Just a few days after Pakistani women’s team captain Fatima Sana was announced as the newest joiner of the Birmingham Phoenix T20 Blast team, another franchise has announced that Pakistan’s star spinner Shadab Khan will be their newest acquisition.

Shadab Khan is one of the best Pakistani players, having played across the globe in almost every T20 league. He was recently part of the Pakistani ODI team that played against Australia in a three-match series at home.

Shadab Khan’s brilliant record in T20s

He currently plays and captained the Abbottabad region in the final of the National T20 Cup. Shadab Khan picked 2/18 in his four overs as Karachi Region Whites were bowled out for 118 runs in 18.3 overs. Shadab Khan’s team won the game by 9 wickets thanks to 54 by Shahzaib Khan and 45* by Kamran Ghulam.

Shadab Khan boasts of a wonderful record in T20 cricket. He has played 356 games across leagues and international cricket. He has scored 3915 runs with 13 fifties and a strike rate of 137.46, and his highest score is 91. With the ball, Shadab has taken 391 wickets at an economy of 7.57 and best bowling figures of 5/28.

Lancashire Lightning sign Shadab Khan for T20 Blast’s remaining season

For the duration of the 2026 Vitality Blast, which resumes on June 26 and lasts until July 18, Shadab Khan, an all-rounder for Pakistan, has joined Lancashire Lightning. Chris Green, an Australian all-rounder who will miss the remainder of the season owing to injury, is replaced by the 27-year-old at Emirates Old Trafford.

Shadab, who has played county cricket for Yorkshire and Sussex Sharks, is available right now and will start for Lancashire in the Vitality Blast match against Leicestershire Foxes at Grace Road on Friday. Shadab also has an impressive record for Pakistan in T20Is. 

He has scored 1,009 T20I runs at a strike rate of 144 while also claiming 123 wickets at an average of 24 and an economy rate of 7.4.

Shadab Khan reacts to joining Lancashire Lightning

After joining Lancashire Lightning for the remainder of the Vitality Blast, Shadab Khan stated his excitement about returning to English domestic cricket and playing for one of the nation's most illustrious teams. 

He emphasized his prior good experiences playing in England and expressed excitement about playing in front of Lancashire fans at Emirates Old Trafford.

“I am delighted to sign for Lancashire for the rest of the Vitality Blast. I love playing cricket in England and have really enjoyed my previous stints in the competition. Lancashire is one of the biggest clubs in the country, with so much history, and I can’t wait to pull on the shirt at Emirates Old Trafford in front of the home fans,” Shadab Khan stated, as per the Lancashire website.

Lancashire will next face Warwickshire on June 28. Then they will face off against Derbyshire Falcons on July 6, Yorkshire on July 10, and Durham on July 12.
