The rise of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is nothing but a dream for many. However, his age is something that often gets all the attention due to his unreal power game with supreme confidence.
The reason behind discussion around Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s age is perhaps justified, because of the fact that there is no cricketer in the world who has achieved such things at such a level. However, all such accusations do not make any sense at all, particularly after his pictures went viral in recent years.
Tanvir Ahmed Sparks Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s Age Controversy
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s age hogged limelight ever since his blazing arrival in IPL 2025 for Rajasthan Royals. There, after getting a contract of INR 1.1 crore, he took the world by storm before winning almost all the awards in IPL 2026.
Speaking on a channel, Tanvir Ahmed, a failed Pakistan cricketer who played 5 Tests and 2 ODIs for the country, spoke highly regarding Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s age. Tanvir, even though he lauded Sooryavanshi for his recent heroics in Sri Lanka, alleged he must be 21-22 years old.

"Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is a child of India. Yesterday, he scored 50 off 11 balls. Well, I do not believe this fifteen-year-old, twenty-one-twenty-two-year-old kid must be. Even at twenty-one or twenty-two years, hitting sixes like this is not easy, and as strong as his base is, the back lift that he has, the swing that he has—this power that is visible is not of a fifteen-year-old child. Hitting sixes like this at this age is a very big deal," Tanvir Ahmed said.
Two months ago, Tanveer Ahmed made a shocking claim on Indian cricket, saying Sooryavanshi will overshadow Abhishek Sharma, the No. 1 T20I batter in the world, very soon when he will be donning India's senior men jersey. Now, with recent remarks, he got himself into news yet again.
Sooryavanshi To Debut For India Soon
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will soon play for India in Ireland. He recently played for India A for the first time in Tri-Nation A series in Sri Lanka. There, he made many headlines for unwanted reasons, particularly because of a fight with Sri Lanka players.
Sooryavanshi did not have a great time in Sri Lanka until the final. There, he smashed 94 runs off just 29 balls against Sri Lanka, which led expected run rate to go berserk while he was in the middle.
Sooryavanshi will soon be in action during India's tour of Ireland 2026. There, the Men in Blue will have a new full-time T20I captain in Shreyas Iyer.
However, given that Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan, coupled with Abhishek Sharma, all will be there, it will be interesting to see how the Gautam Gambhir-led think tank makes space for Sooryavanshi.
There will only be two T20Is in Ireland, on June 26 and June 28 respectively.
