Virat Kohli and Daryl Mitchell both fired down a hundred each for India and New Zealand respectively as the two nations demonstrated a high-scoring cracker at the Holkar Stadium in Indore on January 18.

Both Kohli and Mitchell also went on to further stamp their authority as modern-day ODI mainstays, adding another century to their tallies in a decade that has increasingly belonged to the some of the most consistent run-makers in the format.

With the decade now crossing its halfway mark, here we take a look at five players with the highest number of ODI centuries to their names since the start of January 2020.

Most ODI centuries in the 2020 decade

5. Babar Azam – 9 centuries in 65 innings

Pakistan batting legend Babar Azam has racked up nine of his 20 ODI centuries since the start of January 2020, doing so in 65 innings spanning 66 matches. However, since the conclusion of the 2023 Asia Cup, the legendary Pakistani batter has hit just one century through his match-winning knock against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi a couple of months ago.

Despite undergoing a two-year drought and a rare dip in form, Babar Azam still remains one of the most proficient century-makers in ODI cricket this decade with nine tons. He has also minted 3,142 runs during this period at an astonishing batting average of 53.25.

4. Daryl Mitchell – 9 centuries in 54 innings

New Zealand batting all-rounder Daryl Mitchell has struck all nine of his ODI centuries this decade, considering the middle-order star made his format debut in March 2021. Despite missing one full year of ODI cricket due to his late debut, Mitchell is still ranked fourth on the list of most ODI centuries since January 2020 with nine tons in just 54 innings.

The New Zealander blasted two of those centuries, both in match-winning causes for his team in succession this past week, doing so against India in Rajkot and Indore as part of his run-scoring juggernaut.

3. Quinton de Kock – 9 centuries in 46 innings

South African wicketkeeper-batter and blistering opener Quinton de Kock perhaps has the best innings-to-century ratio in ODI cricket since January 2020. In just 46 ODI innings, the attacking left-hander has unleashed nine hundreds and eight additional half-centuries for South Africa, thus maintaining an average of scoring one century in nearly every five innings.

Quinton de Kock also holds a staggering batting strike rate of 100.13 during this period, one of the highest among all batters with over 2,000 runs, and has aggregated his 2,216 runs at a prolific average of 50.36.

2. Shai Hope – 11 centuries in 76 innings

West Indies captain Shai Hope has fired 11 ODI centuries in just 76 innings since the start of January 2020. The attacking wicketkeeper-batter has also registered 15 ODI fifties to chart 26 scores of 50 or more for the West Indies team, recording most of them as national skipper.

Shai Hope has hauled 3,106 runs at an average of 48.53, and is one of only three players in the world alongside Babar Azam and Virat Kohli to have aggregated over 3,000 runs during this period. Hope has also launched the second highest number of sixes in ODIs since 2020, finding himself only behind Rohit Sharma.

1. Virat Kohli – 11 centuries in 66 innings

India’s all-format great and modern-day batting behemoth Virat Kohli has plundered 11 ODI centuries in just 66 innings since January 2020. He struck one of them in a match-winning cause for Team India during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, and another three in just his last six ODI innings against South Africa and New Zealand at home.

Virat Kohli has also emerged ODI cricket’s most successful batter this decade overall, considering the Indian run machine has drawn 3,188 runs with a highest score of 166* (against Sri Lanka) and with an astonishing batting average of 54.96. Kohli has further charted 22 half-centuries to tally 33 scores of 50 or more in ODIs this decade.
