The undisputed ‘King’ of the Indian Cricket, Virat Kohli, is well known for his passion and dedication towards the sport. Coming into the Indian set-up as a 19-year-old, right after leading India to the Under-19 World Cup win in 2008, Kohli has, over the years, become the eternal fan favourite.
Known for producing memorable run chases against the best teams in the world, Virat Kohli has a reputation for effortlessly breaking records.

Can Virat Kohli break Sachin Tendulkar’s 100 century record?
The ‘God of cricket’, Sachin Tendulkar holds the all-time record for the most international centuries.
Making his debut at the young age of 16, Tendulkar had a 24-year career with the Indian men’s cricket team, setting a near-impossible-to-break record by hitting the most hundreds in international cricket history.
Among the 100 centuries, 51 came in the Tests and 49 in One Day Internationals.
Notably, Virat Kohli follows closely with 85 international centuries (30 Test, 54 ODI, 1 T20I), though Kohli holds the record for the most ODI centuries, 50.
Kohli has been relentless in breaking records ever since he stepped into international cricket and was once on track to surpass the seemingly unbreakable 100-century milestone of Sachin Tendulkar.
It is worth noting that Tendulkar’s path to a century of centuries wasn’t smooth either. For the unversed, it took 24 years of sweat and 782 innings in total across the three formats.
He was a favourite to break Tendulkar’s 100-century milestone, but following his retirement from Test and T20Is, the challenge has gotten harder and harder.
This leaves him active only in one format, the ODIs. Though he is the undisputed ‘King’ in the format, aged 37, one cannot anticipate the number of years he has left in him.
Kohli is expected to remain a part of the Indian ODI side at least until the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup.
Before the coveted tournament, India will play at least 15 ODIs, including 3 matches each against Afghanistan, England, West Indies, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe, as well as a tentative series against New Zealand.
Making his Test debut on June 20, 2011, against the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica, Virat Kohli went on to score as many as 30 centuries. In 2017, Kohli became the first batter in Test cricket history to smash 4 double hundreds in 4 consecutive Test series.
On May 12, 2025, at the age of 36, he called curtains on his Test career, concluding a 14-year career in which he played 123 Tests, scoring as many as 9230 runs, and becoming India’s most successful Test captain.

Virat Kohli Centuries in ODI
Kohli called curtains on his Test career on May 12, 2025, at the age of 36, concluding a 14-year career in which he played 123 Tests, scoring as many as 9230 runs, and becoming India’s most successful Test captain.
Interestingly, Kohli made his ODI debut on the pretext of regular openers Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag being injured. In 2009, Kohli smashed his maiden ODI international century against Sri Lanka in Kolkata.
In November 2023, he went past Sachin Tendulkar's record for most ODI centuries when he made his 50th century in the format; he scored 117 against New Zealand in the 2023 Cricket World Cup semi-final.
Over the years, Kohli has evolved into a “chase master” in limited-overs cricket, and his exploits, especially in 50-over cricket, have simply reached a different level. In his ODI career, Kohli has scored 77 hundreds.
