The teenage prodigy, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, is firmly knocking on the door of the senior India team after a sensational IPL 2026 campaign, and it appears that he may just get the call-up.
As per reports, the Ajit Agarkar-led BCCI selection committee is seriously considering fast-tracking Sooryavanshi into the senior T20I set-up and handing him a first cap, possibly for the upcoming series against Ireland and England.

1. Fastest and youngest centurion in Youth ODI (U-19) cricket
Indian batting prodigy holds the records for both the youngest and fastest century in Youth ODI (U-19) cricket.
He achieved this in July 2025, scoring 143 off just 74 balls for the India U-19 team against England at the age of just 14 years and 100 days.
2. Youngest Player to score a century in U19 World Cup
In 2026, Sooryavanshi became the youngest player to score a century in the U19 World Cup. He achieved this record at the age of 14 during the tournament, smashing a blistering 175 off just 80 balls against England in the final to guide India to the championship.
3. Highest individual score in a U-19 World Cup final
The boss baby produced a knock for the ages in the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026 final against England, registering the highest individual score in a final in the tournament’s history.

Sooryavanshi’s breathtaking 175 off just 80 balls surpassed Unmukt Chand’s long-standing record of 111*, set in the 2012 final against Australia.

4. Youngest centurion in Emerging Asia Cup
The then 14-year-old, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, playing for India A became the youngest to score a century in the Emerging Asia Cup, achieving the milestone against the UAE in Doha during the 2025 tournament, smashing a staggering 144 runs off just 42 balls, including 5 sixes and 11 fours, at a strike rate of 342.86.
He brought up his 100 in just 32 deliveries, recording the joint-second fastest T20 hundred by an Indian batter. His explosive start set up a massive total of 297/4 for India A, leading to a crushing 148-run victory against the UAE.
5. Youngest to feature in the U19 World Cup 2026 Team of the Tournament
Only 14, the destructive batter announced himself, scoring 262 runs in the U19 Asia Cup 2026, averaging more than 50 with a strike rate of 182, breaking the record for the quickest Youth ODI century on his way to 171 from 95 balls against the UAE.
For a highly decorated campaign marked by remarkable performances, Sooryavanshi was not only the youngest player to feature in the ICC U19 Men's Cricket World Cup 2026 Team of the Tournament, but he was also named the Player of the Tournament.
