In the ongoing IPL 2026 match between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals at the Chepauk Stadium, India star Sanju Samson has returned to his best. The 31-year-old, who registered three straight single-digit scores for CSK, brought up the maiden century of IPL 2026.
CSK, batting first, rode on Sanju Samson's heroics as the right-handed batter brought up his maiden CSK century in style. Firstly, he slammed a 26-ball fifty and then struck his century in 52 balls. Notably, Samson's knock featured 15 fours and three sixes.

Talking about Sanju Samson's season so far, the 31-year-old had scored 22 runs in first three innings. He was under immense pressure before the match as there were questioned raised on his intent and his inability to tackle swing early on in the innings.

Nonetheless, Samson silenced his critics and slammed a brilliant ton. It was his fourth IPL century. Also, it is the first triple-figure score of IPL 2026.
Samson now has joint- fifth most IPL centuries. He is only behind Virat Kohli, Jos Buttler, Chris Gayle, Shubman Gill, and KL Rahul. Here is the list of most centuries in IPL.

Sanju Samson Bats Despite Injury Scare
Early in the innings, Sanju Samson recieved no help from Ruturaj Gaikwad from one end. Notably, the CSK captain returned to the pavillion after scoring 15 (18). Samson had to utilise the powerplay and took on DC's bowling attack.
However, right before his fifty, Samson had a little injury scare. Notably, the 31-year-old had some trouble in his back and the physios were called to treat him. There was a slight delay but Samson returned to play.
Notably, Sanju has a bad history of back issues. For the unversed, Samson got injured in IPL 2025 against Delhi Capitals, following which he was ruled out for most of the tournament. His injury had also let the entry of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in the team.

Therefore, CSK fans were worried, but eventually Samson showed no signs of discomfort and continued batting.
Sanju Samson Brings Up 400th Six In T20 Cricket
As mentioned above, Sanju Samson's knock featured three sixes. With that, he also completed 400 sixes in T20 cricket. He now has the fourth-most sixes in T20 cricket by Indians. Here is the complete list.
