Cricket is famously called the ‘Gentleman’s Game’. However, off late, there have been several instances when the cricketers have tainted their image contrary to the sport's repute.
On the field, nasty conversations even sometimes lead to physical fights. But some offences have not been limited to just cricket fields.
Over time, numerous reports, proven or unproven, have emerged about cricketers being involved in serious criminal offences. There have been some famous Indian players who have also been accused of something as shocking as sexual harassment.

5) Shivalik Sharma arrested for rape charges - May 2025
Borada cricketer, Shivalik Sharma, on May 5, 2025, was arrested on rape charges. According to reports, after a complaint was filed at the Kudi Bhagatsani police station in Jodhpur, the left-handed batter was taken into custody by Rajasthan Police.
According to available information, a woman had filed a police complaint against Shivalik in which she accused him of engaging in physical relations with her under the false promise of marriage.
4) Amit Mishra multiple charges - March 2026
A model, Garima Tiwari, filed three cases against her husband, IPL cricketer Amit Mishra, and his family, accusing them of dowry harassment, assualt, and abetment to suicide.
The couple met on Instagram in 2019, dated for 3 years, and married on April 26, 2021, at the Kanpur Club. Soon after marriage, she alleged that Mishra and his family pressured her family for a Honda City car and Rs 10 Lakh as dowry.
Her family managed to give Rs 2.5 lakh, but the demands continued, as per a PTI report. She also claimed that Mishra assaulted her on multiple occasions.
3) Vipraj Nigam accused of rape - November 2025
On November 14, 2025, reports emerged of Delhi Capitals and India A cricketer Vipraj Nigam being accused of raping and assaulting a female cricketer from Uttar Pradesh in a hotel, after luring her with the promise of marriage.
On the other hand, days before, the IPL player had filed a case against the female cricketer under sections of threatening at Barabanki Kotwali.
Nigam’s complaint stated that he received multiple threatening calls from a mobile number, and after blocking it, the harasser continued the campaign using several foreign numbers. He alleged that the woman threatened to implicate him in false criminal cases if he did not comply with her demands.
2) Abishek Porel accused of sexual relationship under false promise of marriage - June 2026
On June 23, 2026, Bengal and Delhi Capitals wicketkeeper-batter Abishek Porel found himself at the centre of a controversy after a woman lodged a police complaint accusing him of maintaining a physical relationship with her on the promise of marriage and later refusing to fulfil that commitment. The complaint also contains allegations of assualt and criminal intimidation.
1) Yash Dayal accused of raping a minor - July 2025
Royal Challengers Bengaluru pacer Yash Dayal faced several sexual harassment allegations since July 2025.
A teenager from Jaipur filed a police complaint alleging that Dayal sexually exploited and raped her over a two-year period, beginning when she was 17. In late 2025, a specialised POCSO Court denied his pre-arrest bail, citing the severity of the charges.
Prior to the Jaipur case, a woman from Ghaziabad filed an FIR under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). She accused the cricketer of emotional and physical exploitation under a false promise of marriage.
