On Friday, June 19, the fourth season of Major League Cricket (MLC) will kickstart with six teams locking horns against each other across 34 matches. MI New Yorks are the defending champions. The MLC offers a perfect platform for younger talents to shine and make a name for themselves.

1. Shimron Hetmyer

Rajasthan Royals batter had a poor IPL 2026 and is now struggling to justify his 11 crore salary. Hetmyer scored just 78 runs in 7 innings, averaging 13.00. He failed to even score a single 30+ score, and the reports are that Hetmyer might be released ahead of IPL 2027.

Hence, MLC 2026 is the perfect opportunity for the southpaw to impress RR management once again and show that he can still play an aggressive brand of cricket and has what it takes to be in a top team like the Royals.

2. Tim Seifert

Tim Seifert came to IPL 2026 with a solid T20 World Cup. Hence, KKR made him open the innings with Ajinkya Rahane. However, the New Zealand batter had a miserbale IPL. The three-time winners handed him three matches and he only amassed 19 runs.

3. Trent Boult

Trent Boult will be playing for MI New York and hope for a turn-around of things. The left-arm seamer had a miserable IPL season, where he picked up 2 wickets in 5 innings, strike-rate of 48.0. 

The MI management dropped Boult from their playing XI for most of the games, hinting that they have already made up their mind regarding his future. Hence, MLC is the perfect opportunity for the 36-year-old.

4. Romario Shepherd

RCB defended ther title in IPL 2026 where they beat Gujarat Titans in the final. It was a near-perfect season for the Rajat Patidar-led side. If one negative had to be pointed out, then it will be Romario Shepherd.

The Caribbean powerhouse was the only weak link for RCB as he scored just 83 runs in 7 innings, picking up 7 wickets in 13 innings.

5. Nicholas Pooran

Nicholas Pooran is most likely to be released next season by LSG. The 30-year-old scored just 234 runs in 14 innings, averaging 18.00. Notably, the 30-year-old is earning 21 crores and performance like this, won't be able to justify this price tag.

He will be captaining MI New York and it is his best and last chance to make an impression on Lucknow Super Giants.
