Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) head into IPL 2026 with plenty of discussion around their overseas combination. With four overseas slots available, there has been a lot of curiosity about which direction the team might go this season.
Injuries and a few unexpected changes have only added to that uncertainty, leaving fans guessing about the final mix. However, based on recent form and overall balance, it now feels like a few names have quietly moved ahead in the race.
While one spot still looks open for different options, three overseas players seem almost certain to feature regularly in the KKR XI. Their presence gives KKR a strong base as they look to build a settled combination, eyeing a fourth IPL title.
That fourth overseas slot could ultimately depend on conditions and opposition, giving the team tactical flexibility. Whether it’s an extra overseas pacer or a batter, KKR have the luxury to rotate without disrupting their core balance.
Three Sure-Shot Overseas Starters For KKR In IPL 2026
1. Sunil Narine
The first name on that overseas team sheet almost picks itself, Sunil Narine. A true KKR legend, Narine has been the backbone of their bowling attack for years and remains a no-brainer selection heading into IPL 2026.
With 192 wickets for KKR in IPL, Sunil Narine stands as the franchise’s greatest bowler in history. His ability to control in all phases, pick crucial wickets, and deliver under pressure makes him irreplaceable for the side’s overall balance.
Beyond the ball, Sunil Narine’s impact as a batter can completely change games on his day. Having represented only KKR in the IPL, he is set to continue that legacy, once again being an automatic starter this season.

2. Cameron Green
Another name that looks locked in is Cameron Green, who was snapped up by KKR for a massive INR 25.20 crore in the IPL 2026 auction. He became the most expensive overseas player in IPL history at the time, underlining the franchise’s intent.
Given the demand around him and the aggressive way KKR pursued the deal, it looks like Green is seen as a guaranteed starter. With Andre Russell stepping away from IPL duties, Green slots in as a crucial pace-bowling all-rounder in the setup.
The Australian has recently found his form with the bat in domestic and will offer flexibility at number three or in the middle-order for KKR. With over 700 IPL runs at a strike rate above 150, across stints with Mumbai Indians and RCB, he now steps into a key role for KKR.
3. Finn Allen
Finn Allen looks like the third sure-shot overseas starter for KKR in IPL 2026. The explosive opener has been in sensational T20 form, bringing fearless intent at the top and giving his side rapid starts in the powerplay consistently.
He starred for the Perth Scorchers in BBL 2025-26, finishing as the leading run-scorer with 466 runs at a stunning strike rate of 184.18, before carrying the same form into the T20 World Cup as well where New Zealand were runners-up.
In 8 innings in the T20 World Cup 2026, Allen smashed 298 runs at a strike rate of 200, including a century in the semi-final against South Africa at the Eden Gardens. He now looks a guaranteed starter alongside Sunil Narine and Cameron Green in KKR’s IPL 2026 playing XI.
