In a significant development, India’s historic 2026 T20 World Cup-winning captain, Suryakumar Yadav and his wife, Devisha Shetty, have been blessed with a baby girl on Thursday, May 7.
On Wednesday, it was learnt that Suryakumar Yadav had not travelled with the members of his IPL franchise, Mumbai Indians, to Raipur for their next fixture against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 10.
While the exact reason for his absence was not revealed by any of the associated parties, it was reported that the Indian T20 captain was set to become a father, and thus, stayed back with his wife.
The couple shared the lovely news through social media with a heartwarming caption that reads, "With giggles, bows, and dreams to unfurl- we welcome our baby girl ❤️🧿"

Devisha was born on November 7, 1993, into a South Indian family in Mumbai. As per the publicly available information, her father, Devdas Shetty, is a hotelier, and her mother, Lata Shetty, is a homemaker. Devisha is the youngest in her family, as she also has an elder sister named Deeksha Shetty.

Notably, raised in a well-to-do family in the economic capital of India, Mumbai, Devisha studied at the Bombay Scottish School, followed by a graduation from R.A. Podar College of Commerce and Economics.
While formal studies are a part of growing up, it was dance that Devisha was always passionate about. So much so that she pursued it professionally, becoming a trained dancer and later a dance coach in Mumbai.

It was Devisha’s query that drove Suryakumar Yadav to slog hard for a national call-up. It is worth noting that after leading India to the coveted ICC 2026 T20 World Cup championship, SKY recalled and couldn’t help but praise his partner in life, Devisha, for her “brutally honest” question in 2018.
Two years after their marriage in 2016, Devisha asked Surya a simple question: "If you want to play for India, how do you plan to do it?"
"She told me that all those who played with you in age group, a lot of them are now playing for India, what do you have in mind? I said: 'Mujhe bhi India khelna hai (I want to play for India too)'. 'Kaise kheloge' (how do you plan to do it?), she asked, revealed Suryakumar Yadav during a podcast interview with ‘PTI videos’.
That question in 2018 motivated Surya to adopt a strict, disciplined lifestyle and forced him to challenge his ways. Only three years later, SKY earned his maiden India call-up at the age of 30. He became the first Indian to hit a six on his first ball faced in T20I cricket.
