Former West Indies pacer has named the bowler against whom the great Virat Kohli might struggle to score in a super over situation. This comes while Bishop is in conversation with ESPNCricinfo and talking about super over scenarios.

Virat Kohli is one of the biggest names in cricket and is considered to be a modern-era great of the game. He retired from T20Is after winning the T20 World Cup 2024, having scored 4,188 runs in 125 games. He then called time on his Test career after 123 matches, having scored 9230 runs with 30 centuries and an average of 46.85.

Virat Kohli- an ODI GOAT

The only format that Virat Kohli currently plays for India is the ODI format, and he has reigned supreme in that format since the day he made his debut in 2008. Kohli has played 311 ODIs and has 14797 runs at an average of 58.71. He has a record 54 centuries to his name and 77 fifties.

Kohli has also won two ICC Champions Trophy titles in 2013 and 2025 and one ICC World Cup in 2011. He has the highest number of centuries in ODIs, going past Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most tons—49. He also holds the record for most runs in a single World Cup edition—when he scored 765 runs in 11 games in the 2023 ICC World Cup.

Ian Bishop picks Wasim Akram over Virat Kohli in a super over clash

When asked to predict the outcome of a one-on-one Super Over, former West Indian speedster Ian Bishop chose Wasim Akram over Virat Kohli in an ESPNcricinfo session.

He did not give an explanation for his decision, but it appeared that he was somewhat predisposed in favor of the Pakistani paceman because of Akram's skill with the ball, which was a truly inspirational quality during his playing days. However, this does not lessen Kohli's unparalleled aura and skill in the game.

Virat Kohli is one of the greatest modern-era batters, who has taken apart the best of the bowling attacks.

His assault on legendary Lasith Malinga in an ODI is still talked about, while he has done extremely well against left-arm pacers like Mohammad Amir, Mitchell Johnson, and Mitchell Starc across formats.

Wasim Akram: the Sultan of Swing

On the other hand, we have Wasim Akram, inarguably the greatest left-arm pacer ever, who made an entire generation swoon with his smooth action and ability to swing the ball both ways and bowl toe-crushing yorkers at a genuinely frightening pace.

He was discovered by Imran Khan and made his Pakistan debut at the age of 19 in 1985 in New Zealand. He became a huge part of Pakistan’s success in the late 80s and the entire 90s. He was also Player of the Final when Pakistan won their only ICC World Cup in 1992 in Melbourne.

Wasim Akram was the first bowler to take 500 wickets in ODIs and has 414 wickets in over 100 Tests. He is the only bowler to take more than one hat-trick in both Tests and ODIs and even captained Pakistan in 1996 and 1999 World Cups.

He retired from the game in 2003 and has turned to media work and commentary, apart from occasional coaching stints.
