The third round of the Ranji Trophy 2026-27 concluded with several dominant team performances and impressive individual displays.
Played from October 26 to 29, the round saw Mumbai, Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka register emphatic victories, while rain forced several other matches to end in draws.
Delhi captain Ayush Badoni continued his remarkable run with another double century, while Madhya Pradesh’s Saransh Jain delivered a match-winning 13-wicket haul.
Here’s how some of India’s prominent players performed in Round 3 of the Ranji Trophy 2026-27.
Ayush Badoni
Delhi captain Ayush Badoni continued his sensational form, registering his second consecutive double century in the competition. After scoring 217 against Gujarat in Round 2, he remained unbeaten on 210 off 228 balls against Jharkhand, hitting 19 fours and three sixes.
Badoni arrived at the crease when Delhi were struggling at 181/5. He then combined with Sumit Mathur for a massive 334-run sixth-wicket partnership, helping Delhi declare at 515/5.
The match ended in a draw due to bad weather, but Badoni’s back-to-back double centuries made him one of the biggest talking points of the round.
Saransh Jain
Madhya Pradesh off-spinner Saransh Jain produced one of the finest bowling performances of Round 3, claiming 13 wickets for 89 runs against Bihar. He picked up seven wickets in the first innings before returning with another six-wicket haul in the second.
Jain’s performance helped Madhya Pradesh secure an innings-and-174-run victory, their first outright win of the season. His remarkable match figures of 13/89 also strengthened his case for higher honours after making his Test debut earlier in 2026.
Musheer Khan
Musheer Khan delivered a match-winning all-round performance as Mumbai defeated Haryana by 10 wickets. The left-handed batter scored 109 runs in Mumbai’s first innings, building a crucial 208-run partnership with Angkrish Raghuvanshi.
He then made an impact with the ball, claiming eight wickets across the match. His contribution helped Mumbai enforce the follow-on and bowl Haryana out for 256 in the second innings.
Mumbai chased down the 97-run target without losing a wicket to register their third consecutive victory.
Mohammed Shami
Mohammed Shami played an important role in Bengal’s dominant victory over Kerala. Bengal registered their third consecutive outright win of the season, defeating Kerala by 287 runs after posting 350 and 198 in their two innings.
Shami was among the key contributors with the ball as Bengal’s attack dismissed Kerala for 141 in the first innings and 120 in the second. Pradipta Pramanik also starred with 10 wickets in the match. The result kept Bengal’s impressive winning run intact in the 2026-27 season.
Prominent Names Who Failed To Impress In Ranji Trophy 2026-27 Round 3
Prithvi Shaw (Maharashtra)
Prithvi Shaw endured a disappointing outing against Gujarat, getting dismissed for a duck in Maharashtra’s first innings.
The opener failed to provide the team with a solid start, falling early after Gujarat had been bowled out for 223. His early dismissal put pressure on Maharashtra’s middle order.
Rinku Singh (Uttar Pradesh)
Rinku Singh had a forgettable start against Puducherry, departing for a duck in Uttar Pradesh’s first innings.
The dismissal came after he had scored back-to-back centuries in his previous Ranji Trophy outings, making it a particularly disappointing result. His team eventually managed to secure a draw in the contest.
Mayank Agarwal (Karnataka)
Mayank Agarwal failed to make an impact with the bat against Tripura, scoring just one run before being dismissed in Karnataka’s first innings.
However, his early departure did not affect the team’s progress, as Karnataka went on to post 490/9 declared and secured an innings-and-116-run victory in the Ranji Trophy 2026-27 Round 3.
