In the ongoing IPL 2026 match between Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans, Shubman Gill has hogged the internet after injury scare. Notably, the GT captain sustained an injury and continued to bat despite the scare.
Gujarat Titans, batting first, got off to a brilliant start as Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill stitched a 118-run standing for the first wicket. In that stand, the India captain completed his fifty but also injured his ankle.
Shubman Gill Suffers Injury Scare vs Rajasthan Royals
After the end of the 9th over, Shubman Gill called for the physios as he experienced pain in his right ankle while taking a double. The pysios assesed the injury and Gill was visibly in pain. The GT captain insisted and continued to bat going against the advise of the physios.
Notably, Gill risked his tournament as he could have done more harm to his injury. Notably, a few overs later, the right-handed batter again called the physio and yet again refused to go back to the pavillion.
Despite the injury scare, Shubman Gill went on and scripted several feats.
Shubman Gill Completes 400+ IPL Runs
At the time of writing this article, Shubman Gill is batting on 69 (36). Talking about his IPL 2026 numbers, the right-handed batter has scored 447 runs in 10 innings, averaging 49.67. Notably, it is the 7th consecutive season that Shubman Gill has completed 400 runs in an IPL season.

With the feat, Gill also became the 3rd player in IPL history to achieve this milestone. The right-handed batter has scored 400+ runs straight from 2020 till present season. It is a feat that even Virat Kohli has not achieved in his IPL career.
Other than Shubman Gill, Suresh Raina, David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan are the other players in the league to reach this milestone and have 7 consecutive seasons with 400+ seasons.
Shubman Gill And Sai Sudharsan Close Gap With Virat Kohli, Faf Du Plessis
Notably, it was the 9th time in IPL history that Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill have stitched a 100-run stand. They have equalled Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle's record. They are only behind Virat Kohli and Ab de Villiers, who have 10 century-plus stands.
