On Monday, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood gave Delhi Capitals (DC) the blues, as the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) were able to demolish them at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi.
The new ball pair of RCB- Kumar and Hazlewood - was simply unplayable with heavy wind blowing at the start of the game. DC had one of the poorest starts to their innings, reduced to 8/6 against the new ball.
To rescue them, Abishek Porel and David Miller stitched a partnership of 31 runs before Porel and Kyle Jamieson had a brief stand. As a result, they narrowly escaped RCB’s lowest score of 49 runs, but ended on 75/10.
RCB lost Jacob Bethell in the third over, but after the young Englishman slammed a fiery 20. Later, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal took them home in just 6.3 overs.

Virat Kohli rewrites history books in Delhi
The DC vs RCB IPL 2026 fixture saw multiple records set and broken. The modern-day great, Virat Kohli, also wrote another chapter for the history books on Monday.
The Delhi-born chose his home ground to become the first batter to notch 9000 IPL runs. He did so by driving an Axar Patel delivery to long-on. Later, he finished off the game in the following over by spanking two successive maximums off T Natarajan.
Moreover, Kohli also surpassed MI’s Rohit Sharma to set the record for the second-most runs against a single opposition. Interestingly, now the RCB batter holds both first and second positions (1174 vs CSK & 1172 vs DC).
Although the former RCB captain could only score 23 runs in Delhi, he crossed the 350-run mark for the season. After eight innings, he has hit 351 runs and currently holds the fourth spot in the Orange Cap race.
Shambolic night for DC as RCB registers big win
Meanwhile, DC’s 75 all-out was not the lowest scored by any team vs RCB. Rajasthan Royals hold the record (58/10 in IPL 2009), followed by the same opposition (59/10 in IPL 2023). Delhi are third on the list.
However, it was the biggest win for RCB and DC’s biggest defeat in terms of ball remaining.
