Rajasthan Royals and RCB clashing in a thrilling IPL 2026 encounter, and drama unfolded right from the very first ball. RCB opener Phil Salt made headlines instantly, getting dismissed on the very first ball of the match at Barsapara Cricket Stadium.

The build-up itself was unusual, with rain interrupting proceedings not once but twice, delaying the start by over an hour. Despite the stop-start nature, the contest burst into life instantly, delivering drama straightaway as the first ball produced a massive breakthrough.

That early wicket not only set the tone Rajasthan Royals but also saw Phil Salt register an unwanted IPL record, being dismissed on the very first ball of an innings. It marked a rare moment, adding an extra layer of significance to an already dramatic start.

Phil Salt’s First-Ball Duck Lights Up Rain-Hit RR vs RCB

After a frustrating rain delay in Guwahati, Rajasthan Royals won the toss and asked RCB to bat first. The conditions were brilliant for pacers, and the Royals wasted no time making it count as Jofra Archer struck with the very first ball of the match, dismissing Phil Salt.

Archer hit the pitch hard and got that awkward extra bounce from the surface, making life difficult for Salt. Caught in two minds and a bit rushed, Salt could not control it, got blind sighted and the ball took the leading edge and looped up off the bat in an instant.

It went straight to Dhruv Jurel behind the stumps, and Phil Salt had no option but to walk back to the pavilion for a golden duck. A brutal start for RCB in Guwahati, who were 0/1 after just one ball, instantly bringing the game to life after a rain-hit delay.

Middle Order Exposed as RCB Falter After Phil Salt’s First-Ball Dismissal

RCB tried to counterattack straightaway after losing Phil Salt, going all guns blazing despite the early setback. However, the intent came with risks as wickets kept falling, including Virat Kohli, preventing them from building any solid partnerships at the top of the order.

The middle order, which had not really been tested early so far this season, was suddenly exposed much earlier than expected. Rajasthan Royals capitalised brilliantly, riding the momentum created by Jofra Archer’s opening blow to stay firmly on top.
