Jofra Archer made instant impact for the Rajasthan Royals franchise in match 16 of the IPL 2026 season against the RCB. Opening the bowling after a delayed start, the English paceman dismissed RCB opener Phil Salt off the very first ball of the match with a brute of a delivery.

Archer also removed number three Devdutt Padikkal as the defending champions slipped to 33-2 inside the powerplay overs. Through the course of his sublime new ball gambit, the English speed demon also surpassed former all-rounder and multi-IPL winner Shane Watson to scale a huge all-time Rajasthan Royals record.

Jofra Archer picked up tight figures of 2-33 in the high-scoring RCB innings in match 16 of the IPL 2026 season at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. The speedster bagged the important wickets of Phil Salt and Devdutt Padikkal inside the powerplay overs.

Through the course of his latest bowling spell, Archer has now extended his IPL tally to 62 wickets for the Rajasthan Royals franchise in 51 matches since his tournament debut back in 2018.

The experienced England fast bowler has now surpassed former Rajasthan Royals all-rounder and inaugural IPL winner Shane Watson to become the most successful overseas bowler in the history of the franchise, in terms of number of wickets taken in IPL matches.

Watson picked up 61 wickets in his 78-match career for the Rajasthan Royals, which included 17 scalps in the inaugural IPL edition of 2008 itself. Yuzvendra Chahal still on top of overall record

Ace spinner Yuzvendra Chahal continues to remain the most successful bowler for the Rajasthan Royals franchise, be it among overseas or local Indian players. The cricketer played 46 matches for the franchise spanning three IPL editions between the years 2022 and 2024.

In 46 innings, Chahal scalped 66 wickets at an exceptional bowling average of just 22.80, and with an economy of 8.41. He even won the coveted ‘Purple Cap’ in IPL 2022 for bagging 27 wickets in just 17 matches. Notably, it has been two seasons since Yuzvendra Chahal was released by the Royals, and he is currently representing the Punjab Kings in the ongoing IPL 2026 season.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi blows away RCB

Despite Jofra Archer’s tight bowling spell, the RCB franchise still managed to aggregate 201-8 in 20 overs. Captain Rajat Patidar top-scored in the innings through his fighting 63-run knock from 40 balls.

In response, young Vaibhav Sooryavanshi got Rajasthan Royals off to a flying start, blasting 78 runs from just 26 balls with eight cracking boundaries and seven huge sixes.
