David Warner scored 110 (65) vs Sydney Sixers [Source: JioHotstar]
Just two weeks after scoring 130* off 65 against Hobart Hurricanes, Australia legend David Warner once again looked in his vintage touch as the Sydney Thunder took on Sydney Sixers at the SCG on Friday evening in Big Bash League 2025/26 and scored another scintillating hundred to rewrite the history books.
Having retired from the international stage, Warner is mostly seen in the commentary box in recent times; however, the form he has displayed in the ongoing BBL season has already taken him past his best-ever run-scoring season in the league's history, while toppling several other records, as he also becomes the leading run-scorer of this edition.
David Warner goes past Virat Kohli's T20 century tally
While batting first against the city rivals, the left-hand batter took the aggressive role at the top in his 56-run opening stand, where his partner Matthew Gilkes only added 12(12). Warner lost two more partners in Sam Konstas (6 off 11) and Sam Billings (14 off 13), but did not stop the attack.
He got to his fifty in 25 balls and subsequently reached the century in 61 balls. By the end of the innings, the 39-year-old got an unbeaten 110 off 65 with 11 fours and four sixes. Nic Maddinson chipped in with 26(16) as the Thunder reached 189/6 from 20 overs.
With the second century of the season, Warner became the batter with 3rd most T20 centuries.
Most T20 centuries
1. Chris Gayle - 22 hundreds in 455 innings
2. Babar Azam - 11 hundreds in 325 innings
3. David Warner - 10 hundreds in 431 innings
4. Virat Kohli - 9 hundreds in 397 innings
5. Rilee Rossouw - 9 hundreds in 375 innings

The former Aussie batter last played a T20I in June 2024, during their Super Six exit against India in the T20 World Cup, which was also his final assignment with the national team, having already retired from Tests earlier that year.
However, since retiring from all international cricket, the southpaw has unleashed himself for the Sydney Thunder, scoring 405 in 12 innings of the last season at a strike rate of 141.60 with three fifties and backed it up by another memorable season, where he has already scored 433 runs in just 8 innings, striking at 154.09, with two fifties and two hundreds so far.
While he is the leading run-scorer of the season, the next best batter on his team, Gilkes, is still 200 runs behind him, and only one bowler — Daniel Sams (11) — has taken more than 10 wickets. Therefore, the overall situation of ST is bleak. They have only won one of their 9 matches and have 4 points to their name at the bottom of the table.
