Hasan Mahmud continued his red-hot Test bowling form as Bangladesh faced the West Indies in the second Test of the ongoing series in Sylhet. After losing the first Test in Mirpur, this is Bangladesh's only chance to avoid a series defeat and keep their World Test Championship final hopes alive.
An injury-riddled Bangladesh looked for an inspiring performance, and as in recent months, Mahmud's scintillating bowling effort pulled them back in the match. As the bowler picked up a six-wicket haul in the first innings, here's a look at the records he broke in the process.
Hasan Mahmud leads Bangladesh's fightback in Sylhet
Following a win in the first Test, the visitors carried the confidence to Sylhet and ended Day 1 with a solid 235/4 on the board in 70 overs. Amir Jangoo continued his good form in the sub-continent and scored a century.
Just when it looked like the visitors could run away with the match early on, Mahmud — who was on a 2-fer- pulled strings and got rid of Jangoo and captain Roston Chase in a single over. He took two more wickets (Joshua Bishop and Shamar Joseph) by the time the first session on Day 2 ended and claimed his second six-fer in Test cricket.
Here's a look at the records that he broke to bundle the Caribbeans for 356 from 235/4.

Hasan Mahmud's rise in Tests
Although Hasan Mahmud scalped his maiden five-wicket haul at home on Friday morning, the pacer has been making headlines for a while now. Earlier in August, he inspired Bangladesh to win a historic Test in Australia with 9/111 in Darwin.
Following the first innings of the ongoing Test, Mahmud has 59 wickets in 33 innings at an average of 27.69 and an impressive strike rate of 47.70.
All of his five five-fers in Tests have come in five different countries — Pakistan, India, Australia, UAE (vs AFG) and Bangladesh (vs West Indies). Only Nathan Lyon is the other bowler to pick all his first five five-fers in different countries.
Bangladesh will travel to the helpful conditions of South Africa to end the year, and it will be interesting to see how Mahmud fares against the World Test Championship champions.
