The possibility of PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi visiting India later this month has once again brought the Asia Cup 2025 controversy back into focus.
Mohsin Naqvi, who is also Pakistan's Interior Minister and the ACC president, has reportedly been invited for the ICC board meetings and the IPL 2026 final in Ahmedabad.
The ICC will first hold a virtual Chief Executives' Committee meeting on May 21, followed by in-person board meetings on May 30 and 31 in Ahmedabad.
The meetings were earlier scheduled to take place in Doha, Qatar, but were shifted to India because of the ongoing crisis in West Asia.
However, it is important to mention that Mohsin Naqvi's participation remains uncertain due to the tense political and cricketing relationship between India and Pakistan.
ICC meetings in Ahmedabad put focus On Mohsin Naqvi's visit
It is vital to note that Ahmedabad will host the IPL 2026 final and the ICC meetings. As part of official ICC protocol, representatives from all member boards, including the PCB chairman, have been invited.
While this is not considered a personal invitation from the BCCI, Naqvi's possible visit has become a major talking point because of the disturbed relationship between the PCB and BCCI after the Asia Cup 2025 controversy.

There have been several reports that suggest that PCB chairman has also been invited to watch the IPL 2026 final. This development has generated massive attention on social media
"BCCI has invited PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi for the IPL final and ICC Board meeting in Ahmedabad. PM Shehbaz Sharif will decide whether Mohsin Naqvi travels to India or not," a report from Geo News stated.
Asia Cup Trophy controversy returns to limelight
The tension between the BCCI and PCB increased sharply after the Asia Cup 2025 final. During the tournament, both India and Pakistan players avoided the customary post-match handshakes following the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir earlier that year.
The controversy increased further during the presentation ceremony after India won the tournament. Reports claimed that Indian players refused to collect the trophy from Naqvi.
The situation reportedly turned awkward at the venue, when Naqvi left the with the trophy and medals. Since then, the silverware has allegedly remained locked in Dubai under PCB's instructions.
To settle things down, the BCCI later raised the issue with the ICC, but no conclusion has been reported on this matter.
Fans demand trophy return if Mohsin Naqvi travels to India
As reports of Mohsin Naqvi's possible India visit surfaced online, fans quickly revived the Asia Cup controversy and demanded that the PCB chairman bring the trophy with him.
Several fans posted reactions on social media, asking Naqvi to hand over the Asia Cup trophy to the BCCI if he attends the ICC meetings in Ahmedabad.
One fan wrote, "No handshake sir, only bring the Asia Cup trophy to India."
Another user commented, - "If Mohsin Naqvi comes to India, he should come with the trophy and medals too."
The development has now added another interesting aspect to the ICC meetings in Ahmedabad.
Whether Naqvi ultimately travels to India or not is not confirmed, and the decision will be taken by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
