After Pakistan Cricket Board chief Mohsin Naqvi was invited for the IPL 2026 final on May 31, the announcement, allegedly from a report by Geo News, has sparked massive discussions regarding the visit.

India and Pakistan are already in a strained relationship due to geopolitical tensions and the cricketing boundaries the two teams have set since the Asia Cup 2025.

However, setting aside the bad blood between India and Pakistan, Mohsin Naqvi is reportedly set to arrive at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad at the invitation of the BCCI.

This is not the first time a PCB chief has visited India amid geopolitical turmoil and tensions. There have been instances in which the Pakistan chief has visited their neighbouring country.

PCB Chief Zaka Ashraf Visited India In 2023

Earlier, in 2023, Pakistan Cricket Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf arrived in India to attend the ICC Executive Board meeting in Ahmedabad.

However, that was not the sole reason for his visit, since he was also invited to watch the 2023 World Cup final just a few days later.

Zaka's arrival was also meant to discuss the future of 50-over cricket and Pakistan hosting the Champions Trophy in 2025.

As of now, Mohsin's visit, along with other board chiefs of the ICC full members, is scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad for the meeting.

"BCCI has invited PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi for the IPL final and ICC Board meeting in Ahmedabad. PM Shehbaz Sharif will decide whether Mohsin Naqvi travels to India or not," a report from Geo News stated.

Although the earlier ICC meeting was scheduled to be hosted in the Middle East, it was postponed due to the war. However, it is now scheduled for May 30-31 in the Indian city of Ahmedabad.

What Naqvi’s Visit Means For India-Pakistan?

The arrival of Mohsin Naqvi, if true, will be a solid green light in relations between India and Pakistan, which might also open up the possibility of a bilateral series between the two nations soon.

Although strained relations and differing geopolitical mindsets had kept the two countries from making decisions for or against each other, the new resolution between the PCB and BCCI might result in solid fan service.

India-Opposing Mohsin Naqvi Might Visit India For IPL 2026

Naqvi, following Pakistan's earlier victory, had a tussle with the Indian cricket team, as he, as the ACC Chairman, refused to hand over the Asia Cup trophy to the Indian men's team and instead asked them to visit his office in Dubai to collect it from him.

The PCB chief has also often taken strict stands against the Narendra Modi-led Indian government while praising his country, Pakistan, during political and physical conflicts. However, if all of this is left behind, a new relationship might emerge in Ahmedabad on May 31.
