The Rajasthan Royals will embark on a new era from IPL 2026 after the change of guard in the leadership group and the team management. Riyan Parag is set to lead a young and exciting bunch of talent, while their former head coach Kumar Sangakkara will also be back in the dugout.
They finished the IPL 2025 season at number 9, level on points with the bottom-placed Chennai Super Kings, with only 8 points to their name, which will need a significant improvement in IPL 2026.
Ahead of the auction, they let go of their captain, Sanju Samson, to CSK in exchange for Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran. Furthermore, they also swapped Nitish Rana to bring back Donovan Ferreira and went on to make more crucial additions in the auction room.
As they continue to chase their first league title since 2008 in IPL 2026 — this time under new owners — we explore RR's best playing XI for the season.
Rajasthan Royals' Best Playing XI for IPL 2026
Openers and top order: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Riyan Parag
Yashasvi Jaiswal has sealed the opening slot in the Rajasthan Royals' Playing XI for a considerable time now. Since joining RR, only Sanju Samson and Jos Buttler have scored more runs for the franchise than Jaiswal, and neither of the two has a better strike rate than Jaiswal in that time.
After already establishing himself as the first choice opener, Jaiswal could also be targeting the Orange Cap for the first time in his career this season. So far, he has 2166 runs in 66 innings at a strike rate of 152.85, scoring 2 hundreds and 15 fours.
The teenage sensation, whose rise also played a role in Samson leaving RR, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, will be the other opener in IPL 2026.
He made his IPL debut at just 14 and has already made a mark by scoring a century and a fifty last year. Since then, he has also won the U19 World Cup with India, scoring a blistering 175 in the final as well.

At number 3 in the Rajasthan Royals' Playing XI should be captain Riyan Parag, despite the tempting options of Shimron Hetmyer and Dhruv Jurel after their recent T20 World Cup and Syed Mushtaq Ali form at the position. Parag has been backed by the RR management for a long time now and has also earned an India cap in recent years.
During IPL 2024, he showed his ability to score a high volume of runs with a 573-run season at a strike rate of 149.21 and an average of 52.09.
When he gets to bat longer in the innings, he tends to create more impact, and something similar can be expected from him in IPL 2026. He can also chip in with off-break bowling in the middle overs.
The numbers 3 and 4 in this lineup can be interchangeable according to the left-right combination and the match situation. Shimron Hetmyer and Dhruv Jurel have both been dynamic with their approach in T20 cricket and provide a lot of power in the middle and late part of the innings.
While Jurel has done well batting at 3 for Uttar Pradesh, he has been accustomed to batting at the death in the IPL and could again be used in that role this season.

After being a part of the RR setup for a few years, Hetmyer and Jurel will share the finishers' responsibility with Donovan Ferreira and Ravindra Jadeja at 6 and 7. Since January 2025, Ferreira has been in hot form in T20 cricket, striking at close to 200 in his 26 innings, exhibiting his six-hitting prowess.

The experienced Jadeja will share the finishing role alongside the aforementioned three batters and impact player Shubham Dubey, who has an IPL strike rate of 163.52 so far. Jadeja can score a few boundaries and add late runs in the innings and bowl a proper quota of four tight overs in the friendly conditions of Jaipur.
Bowlers: Jofra Archer, Ravi Bishnoi, Nandre Burger, Sandeep Sharma
The Royals' bowling attack in IPL 2026 will be led by the express pace of Jofra Archer, who recently performed excellently in the powerplay overs of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup. He has played 52 IPL matches and picked 59 wickets at an economy rate of 7.89 runs per over.
Ravi Bishnoi will be RR's lead spinner in IPL 2026 after he was bought by them for INR 7.20 crore. At 25, he has already played 6 IPL seasons with 72 scalps to his name, to go with 64 T20I wickets in only 41 matches for India. Despite a dip in form in the recent IPLs, he has bounced back and picked a well-bowled 2/18 vs New Zealand on his India return.
Left-arm quick, Nandre Burger will bring a different angle to this Rajasthan Royals' Playing XI in IPL 2026, with his ability to swing the ball, while clicking 145 consistently. He has played T20 cricket across the world and brings in experience to bowl in the first two phases of the innings. Adam Milne, with 258 T20 scalps in 218 innings, is another option for this overseas spot.
The death overs specialist and one of RR's mainstays in IPL, Sandeep Sharma, will complete the bowling line-up of this XI. He is likely to bowl one over upfront in the powerplay and come back in the second half of the innings with his ability to nail the yorkers and slower ones at will against the best of the finishers.
So far, he has picked 146 wickets in 136 IPL innings, including a 5/18. His economy rate is just over 8 runs per over in the league.
