Karachi Kings predicted playing XI [Source: Karachi Kings]
The wait is over as PSL 2026 is set to commence on March 26, and on the next day (March 27), a riveting battle will take place as the Karachi Kings will take on the Quetta Gladiators. Both franchises have assembled a strong squad on paper, but the Kings will start as slight favourites.
The team will be led by David Warner, and at his disposal, the Karachi side has assembled quite a few experienced players as the franchise aims to win the PSL 2026 title. Karachi also has a plethora of local talent, and the choice of picking the main XI becomes difficult.
With Karachi set to begin their PSL campaign on Friday, here is their strongest XI for the opening fixture against Quetta.
Karachi Kings likely playing XI Vs Quetta Gladiators- Match 1
Openers and top order: David Warner, Muhammad Waseem, Salman Ali Agha
The franchise has assembled a strong top three, with experienced players occupying the spots. In David Warner, the team has a destructive batter, someone who can snatch the game in the blink of an eye. Moreover, he has excellent leadership skills, having proved his worth in the IPL as Sunrisers’ captain.
At number 3, Pakistan’s T20I captain, Salman Agha, will play. The team needs someone who can take down the spinners in the middle-overs, and Salman Agha is the perfect candidate for it. However, the question arises: who opens alongside Warner? Muhammad Waseem or Reeza Hendricks.
| Criterion | Reeza Hendricks | Muhammad Waseem |
| Matches | 296 | 143 |
| Runs | 8372 | 4559 |
| Strike rate | 127.71 | 147.77 |
(Waseem vs Hendricks in T20s)
- While Hendricks has had more experience in this format, Waseem pips him when it comes to the strike rate. The South African batter strikes at 127, while the UAE batter, Waseem, has had a T20 strike rate of 147.
- Wassem is more aggressive and has the ability to take down any bowler, a trait that Karachi Kings would love to have at the top.

Middle order and all-rounders: Saad Baig, Azam Khan, Moeen Ali, Khushdil Shah
The Karachi Kings' middle order is filled with two veterans and two highly explosive batters. In Moeen Ali, and Khushdil Shah, the Kings have reliable lower-order batters, and they can be used for finishing the innings.
Khushdil Shah is specifically known for his finishing abilities, and the all-rounder would aim to do the same for his franchise.
In Azam Khan and Saad Baig, the team from Karachi has two promising batters, and if they click, the team will automatically be placed in a solid position. Both can be aggressive, and both batters have the talent to clear any ground.
Bowlers: Abbas Afridi, Hasan Ali, Adam Zampa, Mir Hamza
Perhaps Karachi’s best weapon in PSL 2026 is their bowling attack. The Karachi Kings' pace attack will be led by the ever-reliant Hasan Ali and Abbas Afridi. Hasan Ali has done well across different T20 franchise leagues, and the right-arm pacer will hold the key for his side.
Abbas Afridi has honed his skills in the English domestic circuit, and the pacer is likely to be Hasan Ali’s main bowling partner in PSL 2026. The third pacer in the playing XI would be Mir Hamza, the left-arm pacer.
He offers a different variety (left-arm angle) and is a brilliant powerplay bowler, a trait that Karachi Kings should utilise. The fourth overseas slot will be filled by Adam Zampa, and the team will have one of the best spinners in the league.
