The ICC Women's T20 World Cup is moving at pace as we head to the crunch period of the group stage. Several teams are battling it out for the top-2 positions in their respective groups, but Pakistan Women are one of the three teams already out of contention after losing all three of their first three matches.

Pakistan headed into the tournament with only 9 wins in their 36 previous ICC Women's T20 World Cup outings, and the expectations were higher this time around, with Wahab Riaz named as the head coach of the team.

However, things have gone drastically south, and Riaz now finds himself under the pump after his recent outing with the team in the middle of the competition, as fans question their commitment to the tournament.

Pakistan's outing sparks outrage

In the aftermath of Pakistan's three consecutive losses, which knocked them out of the Women's T20 World Cup before they reached the business end of the tournament, a video of Wahab Riaz and the Pakistan squad went viral.

In the said video, the former fast bowler, who is now the head coach of the Women's team, went to a fast food place alongside the full squad. From the video, it looked likely that the place is owned by a Pakistani man in Birmingham.

Pakistan Women and Riaz were seen enjoying their time off the field, eating food and enjoying hospitality at the place.

But, as the restaurant owner posted a reel about it and it went viral, the fans looked disappointed with the whole squad and especially the coach for not focusing on the performances, despite a poor track record.

Pakistan Women's woeful T20 World Cup 2026 campaign

Pakistan Women are placed in Group A alongside heavyweights like Australia, India and South Africa. So far, they have already faced both India and South Africa, falling short in both matches, as it was expected.

However, their most disappointing match came against the continental rivals, Bangladesh. In their most recent defeat, they faced Bangladesh in Southampton and were asked to chase 124 runs, which looked chaseable. But, Pakistan eventually fell short by 23 runs and got knocked out of the competition.

For the 7th time in 9 T20 World Cup games, Pakistan faced defeat against India in Birmingham. This time around, the margin by runs was the biggest, with India brushing them aside by 64 runs. This was their 4th successive loss against the neighbours in the tournament.

The closest they came to a win was against South Africa in Birmingham, where they reduced the Proteas to 8 wickets in a 127-run chase but eventually the opposition chased down the score.

As things stand, Pakistan Women are one of the three teams, alongside Ireland and the Netherlands, who are yet to pick points in the ongoing tournament.

Up next, they will face Australia in Leeds on June 23 at 11 PM (IST), followed by the clash against the Dutch in Bristol, where they will fancy their chances of getting a win at last.
