"KKR Run By Jokers": Gautam Gambhir Recalled As Dwayne Bravo Enjoys Maldives Trip

The KKR franchise upstaged LSG in a gripping Super Over finish in match number 38 of the IPL 2026 season this past weekend. The outcome marked KKR’s only second win this season after starting off the tournament with five straight defeats.

While the Ajinkya Rahane-led side is no longer the bottom-placed team of IPL 2026, the franchise is still grappling with a host of problems around the halfway stage of the tournament.

Amid KKR’s never-ending troubles, team mentor Dwayne Bravo seems to have taken a luxury vacation in the Maldives, drawing the ire of some of the loyal fans of the franchise. Some of those fans are even urging for the return of former mentor and KKR’s two-time IPL winning captain Gautam Gambhir in the current management in a bid to reverse team’s dwindling fortunes.

KKR fans bash Dwayne Bravo for his Maldives trip

KKR mentor and T20 great Dwayne Bravo recently posted an Instagram story with the caption “Maldives Night”. With the former West Indies cricketer seemingly enjoying a vacation amidst the IPL 2026 season in India, the KKR mentor drew some sharp reactions from fans of the franchise.

While several KKR fans questioned Bravo for taking a vacation despite his team’s troubling campaign, others jokingly urged the ex-cricketer to remain in Maldives and even take struggling skipper Ajinkya Rahane with him.

Gautam Gambhir’s KKR legacy remembered by fans

Compatible to KKR fan’s unreasonable but desperate request, Gautam Gambhir did leave behind a lasting legacy for the much-celebrated franchise. Under his leadership, the franchise lifted the 2012 and 2014 IPL titles by defeating then tournament favourites CSK and Punjab Kings in the finals respectively.

Moreover, in his second coming to the franchise albeit as a mentor, KKR also won the 2024 edition to end its decade-long title drought.

KKR qualification scenario for IPL 2026

The KKR franchise, under the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane, lifted itself up from the bottom to number eight on the 10-team IPL 2026 points table. As of now, the three-time champions have secured just two wins and sustained five defeats and a no-result from eight matches this season.

In a bid to qualify for the IPL 2026 playoffs, KKR need to win each of its remaining six matches, and improve its negative NRR in the process.

Rahane and co. will now face the SRH in match number 45 of the tournament on Sunday, May 3 later this weekend. The match will be hosted by the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad and the action will commence from 3:30 PM IST onwards.
