RCB rewrite history with record win
RCB scripted a historic win over Delhi Capitals in match number 39 of the IPL 2026 season in Delhi. Winning the toss and opting to field first, Rajat Patidar’s call was justified by his new ball pacemen Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3-5) and Josh Hazlewood (4-12).
The two fast bowlers rocked Capitals early at 8-6, before fighting runs from Abishek Porel (30 off 33) and David Miller (19 off 18) lifted the hosts to 75 all out in 16.3 overs. In any case, Capitals’ dismal batting effort marked the third lowest total in the history of the franchise.
In response, RCB opener Virat Kohli stroked 23* off 15 balls, and number three Devdutt Padikkal belted 34* from 13 as the visitors blazed past the Capitals by nine wickets in just 6.3 overs. The outcome marked the second biggest win in IPL history by any team, in terms of number of balls remaining.
RCB to face Gujarat Titans
With six wins and just two defeats from eight matches, the RCB franchise is ranked second on the IPL 2026 points table. Moreover, their NRR of 1.919 marks the best among all sides in the tournament, even better than table-toppers Punjab Kings.
The defending champions will now face the Gujarat Titans in match number 42 of the tournament on Thursday, April 30. The match will be hosted by the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
