Virat Kohli completes 9,000 IPL runs

RCB zealot Virat Kohli became the first cricketer in the history of the IPL to complete 9,000 career runs. The legendary batter attained the feat by scoring 23* off 15 balls against Delhi Capitals in match number 39 of the IPL 2026 season in Delhi.

With 9,012 runs to his name in just 267 innings at an average of 40.05, Kohli is leading second-placed Rohit Sharma by nearly 2,000 runs in the tournament.

Delhi Capitals, RCB achieve contrasting records in latter’s win

Delhi Capitals, batting first in Delhi, bundled out for just 75 against the RCB in match number 39 of the IPL 2026 season. Crumbing before Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the franchise recorded its third lowest total in the history of the tournament.

In response, the visiting RCB group chased down its target in just 6.3 overs with nine wickets to spare. The outcome marked the second quickest chase in IPL history after Mumbai Indians’ 5.3 overs effort from the inaugural edition.

Mumbai Indians sign Keshav Maharaj as Santner’s replacement

The Mumbai Indians franchise has roped in South Africa spinner Keshav Maharaj as a replacement for New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner for the remainder of the IPL 2026 season. Santner was ruled out of the tournament owing to an injury he sustained on his left shoulder last week.

Maharaj has so far played just two IPL matches in his career, doing so back during the 2024 edition of the tournament for the Rajasthan Royals.

Bangladesh takes 1-0 lead against Latham-less NZ

Bangladesh ravaged New Zealand by six wickets in the first T20I to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series in Chattogram. Chasing 183 for a win, Tawhid Hridoy at number four struck 51* runs off just 27 balls, and Shamim Hossain blasted 31* off 13 as the hosts blazed past their target in just 18 overs.

Notably, New Zealand captain Tom Latham was ruled out of the match, prompting Nick Kelly to take over the leadership role on an interim basis.

Azmatullah Omarzai’s mother passes away amid IPL 2026

Punjab Kings’ Afghanistan import Azmatullah Omarzai has been struck with a huge personal tragedy amid the ongoing IPL 2026 season. As confirmed by fellow Afghanistan star Asghar Afghan, Omarzai’s mother, Bibi, has passed away.

While the player will be expected to fly back to Afghanistan to be with his grieving family, his further IPL 2026 presence is yet to be determined.
