Rajasthan Team Collaborates With ICC Member Nation For Historic Event

The Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) seems to be entering a historic collaboration with the Danish Cricket Federation. Notably, the Denmark national cricket team is one of the associate members of the International Cricket Council (ICC) from the council’s European region.

Both, the RCA and Danish Cricket are apparently taking a significant step towards a grassroots collaboration, which will likely involve the Indian Ranji team playing a friendly match or a series with the Denmark national team. On Tuesday, April 28, several members from the RCA even had a lengthy discussion with Danish ambassador Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen regarding the same.

Rajasthan, Denmark in talks for player exchange programme

The Rajasthan Cricket Association and Denmark Cricket are planning to launch a player exchange programme between them. While speaking with the reporters, RCA official Ashish Tiwary said that as part of this initiative, several of Rajasthan young cricketers will travel to Denmark, and some young Danish cricketers will be travelling to Rajasthan.

Tiwary said that if the player exchange programme comes to fruition, it will be a historic step and possibly the “the first such initiative in India’s cricketing landscape”.

Danish ambassador Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen said that he will be taking this proposal with the Danish Cricket Association back in Denmark.

While speaking with the IANS, he said “We have discussed the possibility of exploring an exchange of players between the Danish cricket teams, the Danish Cricket Association, and the RCA here in Rajasthan. I will go back and discuss this with the Danish Cricket Association, and hopefully we can make a more formal agreement after this.”

Friendly cricket series a possibility, confirms Rajasthan official

There is also a strong possibility of Rajasthan and Denmark Cricket Association in organizing a friendly cricket series between the two teams.

If the proposed collaboration materialises, the series could open a unique pathway for cultural exchange and cricketing development between the two regions. Beyond the friendly series, the initiative would also help young players from Rajasthan and Denmark gain exposure to different playing conditions and coaching methods.

History of Denmark Cricket

The Denmark cricket team has been an associate member of the ICC since 1966. While the Denmark men’s team is yet to play a single ODI match, they have played numerous List A games through ICC’s several World Cup Qualifier tournaments.

Moreover, the Denmark cricket team has also competed in multiple T20 World Cup Europe Regional Final and T20 World Cup Qualifiers.

They played their first ever international match back in June 2019 through a T20I against Jersey in Castel, Guernsey. To date, the Denmark team has played 45 T20I matches. The team is currently gearing up to host Jersey in a series of three T20I matches on Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2 later this week. All three matches will be hosted by the Solvangs Park in Glostrup.

As per the latest ICC rankings, the Denmark national team is placed 41 on the T20I charts with 70 rating points.
