Blending tradition with a bold, contemporary twist, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has unveiled a fresh set of England men’s team jerseys that subtly redefine their on-field identity. In a move that adds a distinct visual edge, England’s jersey for each of the three international formats now carries its own colour palette.
With Toyota maintaining their jersey sponsorship with the ECB, the board has updated England men’s jerseys with slight colour variations for both, ODIs and T20Is. Meanwhile, the board has also seemingly sharpened the team’s Test whites before heading into its 2026 home international season.
The updated jersey designs, however, seem to have not gone down well with a certain section of fans, especially those from India. Several fans from the cricket-crazy nation took to X and shared hilarious memes at the expense of the England’s updated jersey, as they share their criticism over the new designs and choices with colour palettes.
Indian fans troll England’s updated jersey designs
On Monday, April 20, the ECB revealed England men’s team jerseys for each of the three playing formats. Sharpening the white in Test jersey, the board decided to retain the colour blue and red for England’s ODI and T20I jerseys respectively.
However, the ODI jersey is rendered in a plain light blue shade and it features no visible design elements beyond the base colour. Even the red T20I jersey lacks any design apart from the shade of dark blue at the sleeves.

Several Indian cricket fans took to X and criticised the ECB, claiming that the board put absolutely no efforts in coming up with their national jerseys.
Some fans even jokingly compared the jerseys to pure Toyota or paint commercials owing to lack of any distinct patterns or detailing. Here is a look at some Indians responding to England’s jersey reveal.
What the new kits mean for England
England is one of the few cricketing nations in the world that has traditionally believed in preserving different identities for each of the three playing formats. Their new jersey unveiling, just before the 2026 home international season, indicates a continued commitment to maintaining format-specific identities while subtly modernising their visual appeal.
It also reflects the board’s intent to align aesthetics with the evolving demands of white-ball and red-ball cricket without straying too far from tradition.
What’s next for England?
The England cricket team, under the leadership of Harry Brook, recently reached the semifinal of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India. However, on the big day, Brook’s spirited troops lost to hosts India in a high-scoring cracker at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
With new jerseys in place, the England national team is now scheduled to take on New Zealand this June in a three-match Test series. The WTC fixtures will be followed by a white-ball series against India at home.
As of now, several England players are in India for the ongoing IPL 2026 season.
