Ravindra Jadeja shares an extraordinary bond with MS Dhoni, playing the majority of his career under the legendary captain, both for India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Although the prolific all-rounder switched his IPL team to Rajasthan Royals (RR) ahead of the 2026 season, the former CSK star still has a soft corner for the franchise and Thala.
Jadeja played 12 seasons for the five-time champions, taking 152 wickets for them, being the second-highest wicket-taker for the franchise, alongside scoring 2354 runs.

In a video released by RR, Ravindra Jadeja showcased his love and respect for his former captain, MS Dhoni. While answering in a rapid fire, the all-rounder picked MSD to be the batter he would choose if his life was on the line.
Over the years, Jadeja and Dhoni's bond have grown leaps and bounds. The CSK acquired the all-rounder ahead of IPL 2012, with Dhoni at the helm, and since then, Jadeja’s credentials as a player have scaled up.
From being a bits-and-pieces T20 player, he was carved into a prolific all-format cricketer by Dhoni. And Jadeja has always credited the legendary cricketer for his success.

However, the duo’s relationship took a nosedive when the Test great was removed from CSK’s captaincy in 2022. Still, next year, when Jadeja scored the championship-winning runs for Chennai, a teary-eyed Dhoni picked him up in his arms.

Some of the loyalists have asked the former CSK cricketer to return back to the den. Interestingly, a user has demanded for Jadeja's trade to the franchise ahead of Hardik Pandya, who is being speculated to leave Mumbai for Chennai.
Moreover, netizens have also talked about the unbreakable bond between the two CSK legends, with a fan stating, "Lovely bond between them".
Despite trade, Ravindra Jadeja share strong bond with CSK
Ravindra Jadeja was one of the main players for CSK during their three titles after returning from the two-year ban in 2018. During those three seasons, the all-rounder scored 506 runs and snapped 44 wickets, contributing massively to Chennai's cause.
Despite that, the franchise decided to trade Jadeja, along with Sam Curran, to acquire the services of Sanju Samson from the Royals ahead of IPL 2026. But the sorrow of letting go didn't cause any rift between the two parties, as neither of them ever spoke bitterly against each other.
Nevertheless, the all-rounder will be next seen during the IND vs SL Tests, as he has been recalled after missing the one-off match vs Afghanistan.
