Ravindra Jadeja Reveals MS Dhoni's Shocking Take On His CSK To RR Move

Ravindra Jadeja made a triumphant return to Rajasthan Royals in their opening match of the IPL 2026 season. The occasion carried a poetic touch, as the legendary all-rounder faced his former franchise, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), in their tournament opener.

The 37-year-old picked up two important wickets in the game as Rajasthan Royals steamrolled the CSK, with nearly eight overs still intact in the match.

Reflecting on his return to the Royals, Jadeja also revealed his former teammate MS Dhoni’s reaction, or lack of it, to his first match since getting released by the CSK franchise ahead of the IPL 2026 auction last year.

Ravindra Jadeja says MS Dhoni yet to pick his call

Despite his towering presence in world cricket, former India captain and CSK legend MS Dhoni remains an inherently private individual. It is worth noting that the legendary wicketkeeper-batter did not took field for the CSK on March 30 against the Rajasthan Royals as he has been ruled out of the first two weeks of the tournament.

Fully aware of MS Dhoni’s private nature, Ravindra Jadeja said that he reached out to his former CSK teammate, but the veteran wicketkeeper-batter did not answer his call. However, Jadeja remained optimistic about his reunion with Dhoni at some point later this season, claiming that the two have a lot of catching up to do.

While speaking on JioHotstar after the match, the former Indian all-rounder said “Baat nahi hui, kyunki Mahi bhai phone band hi rakhte hain. Baat nahi hui, par jab bhi main milonga Mahi bhai se toh khoob saari baatein karunga.”

Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni: A bond forged in yellow

After starting his IPL journey with Rajasthan Royals in 2008, a young Ravindra Jadeja was roped in by CSK for the 2012 edition of the tournament. The legendary all-rounder went on to spend 12 of the next 14 IPL seasons alongside MS Dhoni at CSK, with the duo lifting the trophy thrice together.

Over the years, their on-field synergy evolved into a deep-rooted bond, built on mutual trust, quiet understanding and countless match-winning partnerships in yellow.

Jadeja’s illustrious CSK career eventually came to a conclusion in late-2025, when he was traded in by the Rajasthan Royals for the IPL 2026 season.

Rajasthan Royals vs CSK as it happened

Batting first, the CSK franchise bundled out for just 127 in 19.4 overs. Jamie Overton himself made 43* of those runs from just 36 balls top top-score in the innings. As many as three Rajasthan Royals bowlers picked up two wickets each in the evening, with Ravindra Jadeja being the pick of them for his prized dismissals of Sarfaraz Khan and Shivam Dube.

In response, Royals’ teenage prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi clubbed 52 runs from just 17 balls as the hosts cantered to a comprehensive eight-wicket win in just 12.1 overs at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
