Vaibhav Sooryavanshi got off to a dream start in his international career for Team India. After failing to go big in England, the blistering left-handed opener struck two match-winning half-centuries in Zimbabwe.
Indian captain Shubman Gill also enjoyed a prolific ODI series in England earlier this month, thus picking himself off right after his Test and 50-overs heroics against Afghanistan at home.
Both Sooryavanshi and Shubman Gill have now made significant gains in the latest ICC batting rankings following their impressive performances in recent series.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi jumps 230 paces to surge to top 50
Playing just his second series for Team India, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi aggregated 151 runs in three innings against Zimbabwe this month at the Harare Sports Club. Making amends for his underwhelming debut series in England, the attacking opener blasted 50 off just 19 balls in the first T20I against Zimbabwe.

In the final match, the 15-year-old clattered 81 runs off just 49 balls to bag the ‘Player of the Series’ award. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s run-fest against Zimbabwe has helped him gain a staggering 230 rungs to soar into the top 50 ICC T20I rankings for men’s batters.
The youngster is currently ranked 48th on the latest ICC charts with 536 rating points. Overall, he is the eighth highest ranking Indian player at the moment.
Shubman Gill dethrones Daryl Mitchell, regains top spot
Indian ODI captain Shubman Gill also enjoyed the spoils of his batting riches against England and Afghanistan over the past few weeks. After plundering four fifty-plus scores in his last five ODI innings, the elegant opener has now climbed to the number one spot on the latest ICC ODI men’s batting rankings.
Shubman Gill dethroned New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell to reclaim the top spot. Mitchell, who held the number one ranking since January this year, slipped to second position with 794 points. Gill, meanwhile, holds the ODI batting throne at the moment with 801 rating points.
Modern-day batting behemoths Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma also retained their third and fourth positions on the ODI charts after the series against England.
Ishan Kishan retains top spot in T20Is, Abhishek Sharma slips to number three
While Shubman Gill reclaimed his number one ICC ODI ranking, Ishan Kishan retained his top spot on the ICC Men’s T20I batting charts. The attacking top-order batter has aggregated 267 runs in India’s last two T20I series combined.
Abhishek Sharma lost a rung to slip to number three position, with Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan climbing to number two.
Tilak Varma gained two rungs to remain India’s third highest ranked T20I batter at number six. Suryakumar Yadav lost three positions to slip to number 19, while newly-appointed captain Shreyas Iyer climbed seven steps to take the number 24 position.
Shivam Dube and Sanju Samson both lost paces in the rankings to take 30th and 33rd slots receptively. They are followed by young Vaibhav Sooryavanshi at number 48 as the next highest ranking Indian T20I batter.
