During a recent IPL 2026 clash between CSK and SRH, Heinrich Klaasen had a heated confrontation with Sanju Samson. After the incident, Chennai fans expressed their frustration on social media.

This whole fiasco happened when SRH were chasing 180 runs in the second innings. Klaasen and Kishan had built a 75-run partnership before Noor Ahmad got a crucial breakthrough.

Heinrich Klaasen had a go at Sanju Samson

Noor Ahmad bowled a googly from over the wicket, and Heinrich Klaasen tried to charge down the pitch and hit the ball through the off-side, but completely missed it because the ball turned away sharply. 

At that exact moment, Sanju Samson produced extremely quick glove work behind the stumps. He collected the ball cleanly, removed the bails instantly and appealed confidently.

After the third umpire review, Klaasen was found out of the crease and adjudged out. But his frustration was boiling over as he saw Samson celebrating aggressively.

As Heinrich Klaasen walked back, TV cameras showed him exchanging words with Sanju Samson near the CSK players’ huddle. The CSK wicketkeeper also responded with a few words before Shivam Dube stepped in to calm the situation.

The entire act was caught on camera, and naturally, fans had their opinions and reactions to the same.

Samson supporters lash out at Klaasen

Meanwhile, after the CSK vs SRH game, Sanju Samson fans were upset with Heinrich Klaasen, and they expressed their resentment against him on social media.

The comment section of Klaasen’s latest Instagram post was filled with hate comments. Many supported Samson, while a lot of people warned Heinrich not to mess with the CSK wicketkeeper.




Apart from the fans’ wrath, Heinrich Klaasen escaped the wrath of the IPL governing council. Such aggressive send-offs and heated confrontations are often discouraged.

If any player is found in violation of the player code of conduct, the IPL usually issues a monetary fine. However, for this incident, Klaasen didn’t get any punishment.

SRH qualify for the playoffs

Meanwhile, SRH overpowered CSK at Chepauk to seal a 5-wicket victory on May 18. Batting first, Chennai posted 180 runs on the board after Ruturaj Gaikwad’s sluggish knock.

In the chase, SRH started slow and lost Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma cheaply. However, Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen stitched a match-winning partnership to guide the team home.

Kishan scored 70 off 47 balls while Klaasen hammered 47 off 26 balls to wrap the chase with 6 balls to spare.

With that, Sunrisers Hyderabad officially qualified for the playoffs of the IPL 2026 season along with the Gujarat Titans and RCB. Only one spot is now vacant, for which CSK, RR, KKR and DC will be fighting hard.
