In the ongoing match between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad, Heinrich Klaaseen has hogged the headlines for all wrong reasons. Notably, the SRH star batter got into a heated argument with Sanju Samson, which has now become the talk of the town. 

For the unversed, in the do-or-die match, CSK, batting first, put 180 runs on the board. In reply, SRH lost two early wickets, but Heinrich Klaasen again held the fort from one end. The right-handed batter was going strong but Sanju Samson's lightning bolt stumping sent him packing. 

Heinrich Klaasen Engages In Argument With Sanju Samson

Notably, Klaasen was batting well and was on 47 (26), when he danced town the track off Noor Ahmad's delivery and missed the ball completely. Sanju Samson was lightning fast with the glovework and dislodged the bails in no time.

The umpire sent the dismissal for a review and the replay confirmed that Klaasen was out of his crease. Now, on his way back, he went straight to CSK huddle where he hurled a few bad words at Sanju Samson. 

The CSK keeper-batter too reverted and eventually Shivam Dube told Klaasen to get going and return to the pavillion. The umpire also interfered and Sanju Samson explained the case to the on-field official.

Heinrich Klaasen Fears BCCI's Fine

After the Sanju Samson incident, Heinrich Klaasen now fear a heavy fine from the BCCI. The board is quite strict with such action and do not promote such gestures in a game. On previous occasions as well, the board has imposed heavy fines on players.

BCCI's Rules for players engaging in a fight mid-match

  • Article 2.3 (Audible Obscenity): Penalizes using offensive, profane language that is audible to spectators, umpires, or picked up by stump microphones.
  • Article 2.1 (Conduct Contrary to Spirit of Game): Covers any behaviour that insults, threatens, or intimidates a player, umpire, or official based on various factors.
  • Article 2.21 (Misconduct): A general, often used clause for serious on-field arguments or physical confrontations (e.g., used during the 2023 Kohli/Gambhir incident)

Heinrich Klaasen Having An IPL 2026 Season To Remember

Heinrich Klaasen is having a season to remember. The right-handed batter has amassed 555 runs in 13 innings. With the knock against Chennai Super Kings, Klaasen also bagged the orange cap as he is just a run ahead of Sai Sudharsan who has 554 runs.

Notably, Klaasen is now on the brink of scripting history as he is 30 runs behind to go past Rishabh Pant and become the batter with most runs in a single edition of IPL while batting at No.4 or below.
