On Day 4, Pakistan found themselves in deep trouble in their second innings, needing 275 more runs with six wickets in hand. Amid the pressure, Babar Azam walked in and gave Pakistan genuine hope with a fighting 47 off 52 balls, a knock laced with four boundaries and a six. Babar Azam's Contribution In The 2nd Test So Far Despite Pakistan's struggles as a team in Sylhet, Babar has been their standout performer across both innings. In the first innings, he top-scored with a composed 68 off 84 balls, hitting 10 boundaries. He was eventually dismissed caught behind off Nahid Rana, ending a partnership that had briefly steadied Pakistan's wobbling ship. In the second innings, Babar came in with his side in trouble again and once again rose to the occasion. His 47 off 52 balls was aggressive and purposeful, a strike rate of 90.38 reflecting his intent to take the game on rather than merely survive.Across two innings, he has scored 115 runs at an average of 57.50, making him comfortably Pakistan's most reliable batter in a Test where his teammates have largely struggled against Bangladesh's spin-heavy attack. Babar Azam Bamboozled By Taijul’s Delivery Taijul Islam delivered an off-spin delivery that landed on the middle stump line and moved sharply past Babar's defence. In attempting to play a late glance, Babar accidentally got a thin edge. The ball flew through to wicketkeeper Litton Das behind the stumps, and Taijul wheeled away in celebration. In their first innings, Bangladesh posted 278, with Litton Das delivering a brilliant 126 off 159 balls, the innings that set the tone for Bangladesh's dominance. Pakistan responded with 232 all out, with Babar's 68 being the only innings of genuine quality in a lineup that crumbled against the spin of Taijul Islam, who claimed three wickets, and the pace of Nahid Rana, who also took three. Bangladesh's second innings was where they truly seized control. Mushfiqur Rahim produced an extraordinary 137 off 233 balls, while Litton Das added another 69. The total of 390 left Pakistan needing an almost impossible 437 runs to win the Test. Pakistan's second innings chase has been predictably difficult. They are currently 162/4, still needing 275 more runs with Shan Masood unbeaten on 71, carrying the hopes of an increasingly desperate dressing room.
