RCB won their second title in a row by beating GT in the IPL 2026 final held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 31. However, before the clash took place, Ben Cutting’s social media activity caused a storm among Indian fans.
On the eve of the final, RCB looked confident and comfortable. The bowlers did a terrific job in the first innings to restrict the Gujarat Titans to 155/8. In the second innings, chase master Virat Kohli showed his class and won the title for RCB in 18 overs.
Ben Cutting openly revolts against RCB
However, before the final took place, Australian cricketer Ben Cutting showed his support for the Gujarat Titans via an Instagram story. He shared a post which read, “Now only Shubman Gill can save humanity by beating RCB on 31st May.”
However, fans on social media didn’t appreciate Cutting’s dig at RCB. They slammed him for trying to stay relevant when the cricketing world has forgotten about his existence. Many accused him of stealing fame by spreading hate against RCB.
That being said, despite Cutting’s support, GT couldn’t give any competition to RCB as they comfortably defended their title in Ahmedabad. Bengaluru are now the only franchise after MI and CSK to win back-to-back titles in IPL history.

Cutting’s past history vs RCB
Interestingly, Ben Cutting’s resentment against RCB comes from the fact that he had to face a lot of scrutiny in the past. During the IPL 2016 final between RCB and SRH, Cutting produced one of the greatest all-round performances in an IPL final.
He scored 39 off 15 balls for SRH and helped the team reach 208/7. Not only that, but he also scalped 2 wickets while defending the total and guided SRH to a victory by 8 runs and lifted their maiden IPL trophy.
That final denied RCB their best shot at winning their maiden title, and Bengaluru fans weren’t happy. They slammed Ben Cutting, and that social media hate affected the cricketer deeply, as even his family was targeted.
Virat Kohli proved his class yet again
Whenever RCB finds itself in a soup, they immediately turn to Virat Kohli for rescue and on the night of the IPL 2026 final, the saviour turned up in his best version.
Chasing 156, Kohli and Venkatesh Iyer had a solid partnership as RCB brought up 70 runs in the powerplay. However, Rashid Khan showed resistance with a 2-wicket over.
But against the odds, Virat Kohli held his ground. He prioritised singles and doubles over flashy boundaries and still scored his fastest IPL fifty in 25 balls.
He went on to score 75* off 42 balls and hit the winning runs with a six to guide RCB to their second IPL title. Naturally, to reward his heroics, Kohli was given the Player of the Match trophy.
