Fans Roast PSL After Ball Changes Colour [Source: X]
The PSL 2026 season is back in controversy as the season reaches its peak. An embarrassing incident that first happened during the season opener, unfolded again in the Karachi Kings vs Lahore Qalandars game.
Lahore were batting first at the Gaddafi Stadium and posted 199/6 on the board, courtesy of Fakhar Zaman's and Abdullah Shafique’s half-centuries. However, the quality of the ball suddenly changed mid-game.
Ball changes colour again in the PSL
During Lahore Qalandars’ first innings, the white ball in use suddenly turned pink, leaving fans and players confused. However, fans were quick to notice that this was happening due to the poor quality of the jersey.
Karachi Kings had donned a red-coloured kit, and while shining the ball, the colour got transferred, thus ruining the quality. However, the ball wasn’t changed, as the Qalandars didn’t complain about it.
Regardless, fans on social media trolled PSL for its poor management because this wasn’t the first time such an incident had happened.

When a similar incident unfolded in the PSL 2026 opener
During PSL 2026’s opening match between Lahore Qalandars and Hyderabad Kingsmen, the white cricket ball turned pink as players and fans were left puzzled.
The dye from Kingsmen’s jerseys was so poor in quality that it transferred onto the ball. So instead of just polishing the ball, players were literally colouring it.
Marnus Labuschagne, who was captaining Hyderabad Kingsmen, was clearly stunned. He even approached the umpires mid-game, saying he had never seen anything like it before.
The ball was later changed after the batters complained. However, it seems PSL management haven’t learnt their lesson at all. The fact that the incident surfaced again later in the tournament suggests a systemic quality control failure.
Lahore Qalandars post 200-run target
Meanwhile, coming back to the game, Lahore Qalandars have put up a strong total of 199/6 in 20 overs at Gaddafi Stadium. Fakhar Zaman and Abdullah Shafique scored 61 and 62 runs respectively.
Moreover, quick finishing touches from Daniel Sams and Shaheen Afridi pushed the total close to 200. The key phase was naturally the 110-run partnership between Fakhar and Shafique, which set the platform.
In response, Karachi Kings faced an early blow in Jason Roy, who was dismissed on 9 off 5 balls. At the end of the first 2 overs, the Kings had 11 runs on the board at the loss of 1 wicket.
This is an important game to win for Karachi to keep their playoff hopes alive, as they are placed second last on the points table with 3 wins in 8 games.
Lahore Qalandars, on the other hand, are in a much better place at 5th position. Hence, their playoff odds are much positive.
