Bangladesh is all set to clash with New Zealand in the third and final ODI of the series on Thursday, April 23. The match will be held at the Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram at 10:30 AM IST.

After a setback in the opening game, Bangladesh responded emphatically with a commanding win in the second ODI. Nahid Rana’s five-wicket-haul restricted New Zealand to 198 runs in the first innings.

The Tigers had it easy in the second innings, as they won the game in just 35.3 overs after Tanzid Tamim and Najmul Shanto’s half-centuries.

That being said, heading into the decider, Bangladesh appear to hold a slight edge. Their confidence has been restored, and playing at home, particularly in Chattogram, has historically worked in their favour.

However, New Zealand cannot be underestimated. Despite fielding a relatively inexperienced squad, they stunned Bangladesh in the first ODI. For the visitors, much will depend on their top order laying a solid foundation and their bowlers adjusting effectively to the conditions.

Ahead of the series decider, let’s see the pitch and weather report of Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram.

The surface in Chattogram will be balanced but with a clear tilt toward batting early in the game. Traditionally, the pitch provides good pace and bounce in the first innings.

Scores in the range of 260-280 are considered par, and anything above that could put significant pressure on the chasing side.

Pacers are likely to enjoy early movement with the new ball, especially in the morning phase, making the first 8-10 overs crucial.

As the match progresses, the pitch is expected to slow down, bringing spinners into the game during the middle overs with some grip and turn available.

Given the nature of the pitch and the likelihood of it slowing down later in the day, teams winning the toss are expected to bat first.

From a weather perspective, conditions will be hot and humid, with temperatures hovering around 30-35°C and humidity levels rising up to 70-75%.

While the heat could test player endurance, skies are expected to remain clear, ensuring no rain interruptions.

A light coastal breeze may assist swing bowlers early on, but overall, conditions should remain stable throughout the match. Since this is a day game, dew will not be a factor, keeping conditions fair for both innings.

Conclusion

Overall, Bangladesh and New Zealand are expected to fight it out in the third ODI with the series on the line. Both sides have shown great fight, but the one that holds its nerves better may win this game.

The pitch and weather at Chattogram are favourable for an uninterrupted game of 50-over cricket. Hence, fans can expect an enthralling contest.
