In the 25th fixture of the PSL 2026 season, Karachi Kings will be up against Islamabad United on April 16. The match will be held at the National Stadium in Karachi at 7:30 PM IST.

Both teams are separated by just a single point on the points table and hence will be desperate to get a victory.

Karachi Kings come into this contest placed fourth, having secured three wins from five matches. With the tournament entering a critical phase, they will be keen to build momentum and climb into the top two. 

On the other hand, Islamabad United, currently third with seven points, have been slightly more stable and carry a reputation for playing fearless, high-tempo cricket. 

Their batting depth and ability to accelerate in the latter stages make them a dangerous unit, especially in chasing scenarios.

The National Stadium is expected to offer a batting-friendly surface, where totals in excess of 180 are often par. Dew could also play a role in the second innings, making the toss potentially significant.

Top Order - David Warner, Muhammad Waseem, Salman Agha

For starters, captain David Warner, who missed the previous game due to back pain, is expected to be fit for this encounter. Warner, dealing with off-field issues, scored a golden duck against Peshawar Zalmi and has been struggling with bad form.

Regardless, his experience cannot be ignored in such crucial encounters. Meanwhile, Warner’s opening partner will be Muhammad Waseem. He has got good starts but needs to convert them into meaningful knocks.

At no. 3, the Karachi Kings are likely to retain Salma Agha. He batted at a 150.00 strike rate in the last game.

Middle Order - Saad Baig, Moeen Ali, Azam Khan, Khushdil Shah

At no. 4, Saad Baig scored a half-century in the last game but had to retire himself due to a low strike rate. In this game, he must do better to retain the King’s trust.

At no. 5, Moeen Ali must promote himself. He can score big if he settles, and anchoring the middle order will most likely be beneficial for Karachi’s innings.

Azam Khan can later come in as a finisher. He scored 26 runs, but his strike rate is a problem. As a finisher, Karachi Kings definitely expect better from him.

Khushdil Shah is another finishing option for the Kings. He couldn’t score much in the last game, but due to a lack of better options, he will be retained in the playing XI.

Bowlers - Abbas Afridi, Hasan Ali, Azam Zampa, Ihsanullah

As for bowlers, Abbas Afridi and Hasan Ali will lead the pace attack. Hasan conceded 42 runs in the last game and must improve, while Afridi picked 2 crucial wickets at 7.50 economy.

Adam Zampa also bowled well and is key to Karachi Kings’ spin lineup alongside Salman Agha and Moeen Ali. 

Ihsanullah was given an opportunity in the last game, but he conceded 28 runs in 2 overs. Since he is new, Karachi Kings will likely give him a longer rope.
