Islamabad United and Karachi Kings franchises will be crossing paths in match number 25 of the PSL 2026 season. The match will be hosted by the National Stadium in Karachi on Thursday, April 16 and the action will commence from 7:30 PM IST onwards.

The match will mark the sixth outing for the Islamabad United franchise, and the fifth for the David Warner-led Karachi Kings this season.

Islamabad United vs Karachi Kings Preview

The Islamabad United team, under the leadership of all-rounder Shadab Khan, has registered three wins and procured two defeats so far from their five completed fixtures this PSL 2026 season. One of their matches, against the Peshawar Zalmi, was washed out due to rains.

With seven points in six matches, the United franchise is ranked third on the PSL 2026 points table as of April 15 with an NRR of 1.363. Notably, the team has won three of its last four matches.

Islamabad United Likely Playing XI vs Karachi Kings, Match 25

Openers and Top Order: Devon Conway, Sameer Minhas, Mohammad Faiq

The Islamabad United team management will continue to stick with the opening combination of Devon Conway and Sameer Minhas. Conway, who started off the PSL 2026 season with just 50 runs from his first three innings, recently struck a match-winning 59* against the Lahore Qalandars. The senior New Zealander also whacked a quick 31-ball 45 against Hyderabad Kingsmen a couple of days ago.

Young Sameer Minhas is also in splendid touch with the bat off late in his maiden PSL season, having minted 207 runs so far in five innings at an average of 51.75. Mohammad Faiq will likely receive another opportunity at number three, as he has been striking at 144.89 this season.

Middle Order and All Rounders: Mark Chapman, Shadab Khan, Faheem Ashraf, Chris Green, Imad Wasim

Haider Ali will likely be dropped from the Islamabad United playing XI owing to his lackluster returns off late. Captain Shadab Khan, who missed his team’s previous match, might make his return to the playing XI and constitute Islamabad United’s middle-order alongside explosive in-form New Zealand batter Mark Chapman.

Shadab Khan, who also serves as a spin-bowling all-rounder, will be joined by fellow spinners and star all-rounders Chris Green and Imad Wasim. Both Green and Wasim hold a legion of T20 experience, and have picked up crucial wickets for their team in the ongoing tournament.

Faheem Ashraf, who can operate with the new ball and launch some big hits in the slog overs, will reprise his role for the team in the middle order.

Bowlers: Mehran Mumtaz, Richard Gleeson, Salman Irshad

Left-arm spinner Mehran Mumtaz will likely receive another opportunity in the XI after playing his first match of the season a couple of days ago. England fast bowler Richard Gleeson has picked up four wickets in the tournament, and is holding an impressive economy rate of just six after playing four games.

Gleeson’s ability of making the new ball talk warrants a place for him in the Islamabad United starting XI. Fellow quick Salman Irshad also holds a penchant for picking up crucial wickets, and has scalped five so far already in PSL 2026.
