Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal once again stole the spotlight off the field with his trademark humor after India’s commanding win over Pakistan in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 on Sunday, February 15.
The leg-spinner appeared in a light-hearted video alongside cricket presenter Jatin Sapru, where Yuzvendra Chahal cheekily mimicked Pakistani mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed’s wicket-celebration gesture.
Yuzvendra Chahal takes a dig at Pakistan
Notably, the clip, shared on social media soon after India’s emphatic victory in Colombo, quickly went viral among fans.
The video carried playful captions referencing India’s dominance over their arch-rivals: “Sunday badalte hai, result same” and “Chalo ji, India main ek aur Sunday bohot sukoon se kata… Garden main ghoomte ghoomte 8-1 ho gaya!”
Notably, the “8-1” remark reflected India’s overwhelming record against Pakistan in the T20 World Cups.
At the end of the clip, Yuzvendra Chahal repeated his now-famous line from a previous reel, “Match nahi, mismatch tha”, perfectly capturing the one-sided nature of the contest at R. Premadasa Stadium.
Notably, this was not the first time Yuzvendra Chahal took a playful swipe at Pakistan. Ahead of the India–Pakistan clash, he had shared a humorous cartoon on social media poking fun at Pakistan bowler Usman Tariq, complete with a cheeky “statue” jibe.
On the field, India delivered a clinical all-round performance to outclass Pakistan by 61 runs and secure qualification for the Super 8 stage of the tournament.
India dominate Pakistan in T20 World Cup 2026 match
Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha opted to bowl first after winning the toss, a move that initially paid off when he dismissed Abhishek Sharma for a duck in the opening over. Abhishek’s early exit meant he joined a rare list of players to record ducks in their first two T20 World Cup innings.
However, India quickly wrested back momentum through a blistering counterattack from Ishan Kishan. The left-hander dominated Pakistan’s bowling during the Powerplay, smashing boundaries at will and reaching a 27-ball half-century, the fastest by an Indian in India-Pakistan T20 World Cup history.
His aggressive strokeplay ensured India surged past 50 in the first six overs despite the early setback. Kishan eventually fell after a dazzling knock that featured 10 fours and three sixes, but he had already laid a formidable platform.
Pakistan attempted a comeback through spinner Saim Ayub, who struck twice in an over to remove Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya, but India’s middle order kept the scoreboard moving.
Captain Suryakumar Yadav played a stabilising innings of 32, rotating strike smartly on a challenging surface. Late cameos from Shivam Dube and Rinku Singh propelled India to a competitive 175/7.
Pakistan fail to chase 176-run target
On the other hand, Pakistan’s chase never gained traction against India’s disciplined bowling attack. Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah dismantled the top order in the Powerplay, reducing Pakistan to 38/4 and effectively ending hopes of a serious pursuit.
Although Usman Khan produced a fighting 44, wickets kept tumbling at the other end. Spin then tightened the screws as Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy, and Kuldeep Yadav shared the spoils, bowling Pakistan out for 114.
The victory extended India’s remarkable dominance over Pakistan in T20 World Cups to 8-1, with Pakistan’s only win coming in 2021.
