Jasprit Bumrah for India [Source: AFP]
The Centre of Excellence has submitted its fitness clearance report to the national selectors, greenlighting Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Dhruv Jurel for the upcoming ODI series against England.
The report confirms all four players have fully recovered from their respective injury concerns and workload breaks. Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the 50-over leg after suffering a fresh thigh strain during his rehabilitation camp.
Virat Kohli meanwhile will need to pass a mandatory fitness test on June 22 at the NCA in Bengaluru. The squad announcement for the multi-format England tour is expected only after Kohli’s results are assessed.
Why Dhruv Jurel, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah and KL Rahul Were Having England ODIs Scare?
A wave of recent speculation suggested that Bumrah, Rahul, Pant, and Jurel had been left out of the England ODIs due to their injury and workload concerns.
Presently, each player holds a clear status. Jasprit Bumrah was rested during smaller bilateral assignments purely for workload management to ensure peak fitness for high-stakes contests.
KL Rahul is fully integrated into the ODI setup and is projected to be the primary wicketkeeper-batter. The decision to relieve him of keeping duties in a previous Test series was specific to rank-turners.
Rishabh Pant has recovered completely from his side strain and is available for selection. Dhruv Jurel has earned his place through strong domestic List A performances and is set to travel as the second-choice gloveman. The selectors are moving toward a full-strength squad, not dropping key names.

India Stars to Make Big Comeback in England ODIs
The CoE report marks a significant boost for India’s ODI plans. All four players have successfully passed their fitness assessments, paving the way for a powerful lineup in English conditions.
Jasprit Bumrah returns to the 50-over format after a carefully managed rest period. The medical team has cleared his bowling workloads, pace, and endurance, confirming he is ready for the rigours of a full series. His presence will lead a pace attack that missed his precision in recent outings.
Rishabh Pant’s recovery from the oblique muscle tear has been certified complete. The left-hander has undergone rigorous mobility and batting drills at the CoE and showed no discomfort. His explosive middle-order presence is a valuable asset.
Dhruv Jurel, the youngest in the wicketkeeping group, passed all fitness benchmarks. His domestic form and calm temperament have convinced the selectors he is ready for the next step.
With Pant and Rahul also available, India will have three fit keeping options to choose from, a luxury they have rarely enjoyed on overseas tours.
Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya Fitness Under Scanner
While four stars are set for a comeback, two marquee names face contrasting fitness situations.
Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the England ODI series. The all-rounder suffered a fresh strain during his rehabilitation camp at the CoE in Bengaluru.
The setback occurred just as he was preparing to complete his final assessments. The medical team has declared him unfit to travel, and the team management wants him to recover fully with an eye on the long-term goal of the ODI World Cup 2027. Pandya will continue his rehab under the watch of the CoE staff.
Virat Kohli’s participation remains uncertain. He is recovering from a muscle strain that kept him out of the bilateral ODI series against Afghanistan. The NCA has scheduled a mandatory fitness test for June 22 in Bengaluru.
Kohli will undergo a battery of assessments to gauge his readiness for 50-over cricket. The selection committee has decided to withhold the official squad announcement until his results are clear.
A positive outcome will see him board the flight to England. A failed test could force a rethink at the top of the order.
