Pakistan continued their red-hot form in T20Is as the Men in Green defeated Australia in a one-sided battle to capture the series with a game still to be played. Pakistan were the superior side as they posted 198/5, batting first, and in reply, the visitors got bundled out for a mere 108.

The hosts dominated the Aussies, and the game also saw controversy erupt between Australia’s Cameron Green and Pakistan spinner Usman Tariq. During the Australian chase, a moment grabbed the limelight as Tariq took the all-important wicket of Green, but the Australian player was visibly frustrated.

Usman Tariq accused of chucking by Cameron Green

In the 11th over, when Greeb was dismissed, Tariq paused midway before releasing the ball sideways as the Aussie batter failed to read the ball and was caught by the fielder.

Green was dismissed cheaply, and while going back, the all-rounder made a gesture suggesting that Tariq was chucking, and this caught the eyebrows as the video went viral quickly.

Green was Australia’s top run-scorer in their innings, and while he was batting, the visitors had a chance to sneak in a close win. However, that couldn’t happen as Tariq had the last laugh, but not before he was accused of throwing the ball.

Tariq claps back at Cam Green's gesture

After the Cameron Green video, which went viral, Tariq hit back at the Aussie star by posting a story on Instagram and also justifying why his action is not illegal. On Instagram, he posted a video of an upset child, indirectly stating that Green's behaviour was childish.

Tariq also broke his silence and mentioned that ICC has cleared his action, and hence, there should be no further questions asked.

“I do have two elbows in my arm. My arm bends naturally,” Tariq had said in an earlier interview with MYK Sports. “I have got this tested and cleared. Everyone feels I bend my arm and all that. My bent arm is a biological issue.”

Will Cameron Green be punished by ICC for unneccessary gesture?

Technically, Green has not violated any of the ICC rules by gesturing that Tariq was chucking. He just used hand gestures, but nothing verbal was spoken against the Pakistan spinner. In such a scenario, ICC won't punish the all-rounder as nothing direct was said about the spinner.

Had Green said something verbally, or had he provoked the Pakistan bowler, he might have been fined by the ICC.

Tariq and co choke Australian batters in 2nd T20I

Pakistan prepared a spinning wicket and Tariq used the conditions to his advantage as he ran riot and dismantled the Aussie batters.

The Aussie side failed to read his variations as he scalped 2 wickets, including the all-important wicket of Cameron Green and Matthew Kuhneman as Pakistan sealed the second T20I and the series.

Tariq finished the match with figures of 2 for 16, and he was accompanied by Abrar Ahmed and Shadab khan, who picked up three wickets each as the Aussies had no answer against the wily spin trio.
