According to emerging reports, the PCB is planning to host a local tournament between Pakistan's senior and emerging teams if the Pakistani government doesn't allow the players to participate in the T20 World Cup 2026. Despite announcing a star-studded 15-member squad, the PCB has yet to confirm Pakistan's participation in the marquee event.

Meanwhile, as the T20 World Cup nears, a report suggests that the PCB has prepared an alternative plan if the Pakistan players don't receive the government clearance for the tournament.

PCB's plan B for Pakistan revealed as T20 World Cup decision delayed

Recently, the PCB unveiled Pakistan's squad for the T20 World Cup 2026, announcing Salman Ali Agha as the captain. However, the Pakistani government hasn't cleared the national cricket team to feature in the mega event amid the country's strained geopolitical relations with arch-rivals, India, the co-hosts of the competition.

The PCB launched a scathing attack on the ICC, accusing it of bias after the apex cricketing body officially replaced Bangladesh with Scotland over disagreement on T20 World Cup venues.

Although Pakistan are scheduled to play all their matches in Sri Lanka, the players might still be prohibited from featuring in the T20 World Cup, with the Pakistani government planning to take a stance and boycott the tournament in solidarity with Bangladesh.

According to a report by local media agency Daily Ausaf, the PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi is set to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday evening before taking a final call on Pakistan's T20 World Cup participation. The meeting is significant from Pakistan's perspective, as it will decide whether they will take part in the global sporting event.

The report reveals that if the government doesn't permit the Pakistan team to play the T20 World Cup, a tournament comprising high-profile international players will be conducted to enthral the local fans.

Apart from Pakistan's senior team, the Pakistan Shaheens as well as the under-19 players will be distributed among four teams that will battle it out for supremacy on Pakistani soil.
