Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna is not playing for Gujarat Titans in their IPL 2026 match against defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru, taking place at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
The Karnataka-based fast bowler who bowled two overs for GT in their seventh IPL 2026 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and conceded 31 runs in his quota of two overs was earlier replaced in the playing XI by Madhya Pradesh-based fast bowler Arshad Khan during their clash against Chennai Super Kings.
Even in their reverse fixture, GT vs RCB, Match number 42, the management has decided to keep Krishna out and enter with the the same squad as in their previous game.
The back-to-back absence of the IPL 2025 purple cap winner has raised many eyebrows. Thus, this article explores why Prasidh Krishna is not playing today.
GT captain on Krishna’s ouster in the GT vs RCB game
During the toss, GT skipper Shubman Gill didn’t provide any reason for Krishna’s absence from the XI for the big match against Chennai Super Kings, but it has been reported that Prasidh’s absence has nothing to do with his recent form.
Talking about the team combination for today's match, Gill said, “We’re going with the same team as the last game.”
Krishna’s absence is a big setback for the Gujarat Titans, as he is their previous-highest wicket-taker in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League.
In seven matches played so far, Krishna has picked up 12 wickets, which includes figures of 4 for 28 in four overs against Lucknow Super Giants in Lucknow on April 12.

The Karnataka-based fast bowler had been excellent for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2026 and even briefly emerged as a leading contender for the Purple Cap with over 10 wickets in his first four games.
Operating as a key middle-overs and death-bowler, he achieved a career-best against LSG and has been instrumental in GT's wins, utilising smart variations and high-effort pace.

Meanwhile, the Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans are coming off an 8-wicket win over the five-time IPL champion, Chennai Super Kings.
Gujarat Titans shrugged off their defeat in Bengaluru with a commanding response. Notably, CSK had recovered admirably after an early burst from Kagiso Rabada, scoring 115 runs in the second half of their innings to reach 158.
Yet, even on a surface that offered occasional uneven bounce, it felt a touch light once GT's celebrated top-three found rhythm.
Sai Sudharsan, fresh from his century in Bengaluru, carried the momentum forward with a sparkling 87 off 46 balls as the Titans cantered home with 20 deliveries to spare.
