Shreyas Iyer joins the F1 Sim Racing team
Meanwhile, outside cricket, Mumbai Falcons Racing have roped in PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer as the official brand ambassador for its ambitious F1 Sim Racing initiative in India.
The move comes as part of the launch of the F1 Sim Racing India Open 2026, a nationwide competition aimed at identifying and nurturing virtual racing talent.
Backed by an official agreement with Formula 1, the tournament will be played on F1 25, replicating real-world circuits, formats, and team environments.
With participation open across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox platforms, the championship is designed to provide a structured pathway for Indian gamers to break into competitive sim racing.
Shreyas Iyer, meanwhile, will add star value to Mumbai Falcons Racing. He will promote the team as they compete in the Sim Racing tournament. Iyer’s onboarding shows how much his stardom is valued in the Indian sports circuit.

Shreyas Iyer previously met F1 champion Max Verstappen
That being said, Shreyas Iyer’s connection with Formula 1 racing goes way beyond. In 2023, he attended the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the iconic Yas Marina Circuit.
There, he met Max Verstappen, a four-time F1 world champion driving for Red Bull Racing. During the interaction, Iyer gifted Verstappen an Indian cricket team jersey, and the two posed for pictures.
Now, Shreyas Iyer has set foot in Sim Racing, thus extending his presence into the world of racing.
Iyer is in strong form in IPL 2026
Coming back to cricket, Shreyas Iyer is leading PBKS from the front in IPL 2026. Across 7 innings, he has scored 309 runs at a 61.80 average and 174.57 strike rate, including four half-centuries.
Punjab Kings recently chased down 265 runs against Delhi Capitals, thus accomplishing the highest successful run chase in the history of the T20 format. In that game, Iyer contributed with 71* off 36 balls.
Overall, Shreyas Iyer reached his peak in IPL 2026, and this year, he will be desperate to win the maiden title for PBKS. Last year, Punjab Kings fell just short of that goal as they lost to RCB in the final.
Regardless, the IPL 2026 platform is set for Punjab to achieve glory, especially under a competent captain like Shreyas Iyer. He has the tools to do it as he previously led KKR to a title win IPL 2024.
