With the countdown to IPL 2026 underway, Rohit Sharma has already started making headlines for his trademark humour. During a recent training session with the Mumbai Indians, the veteran opener smashed a massive six and followed it up with a playful sledge aimed at Shardul Thakur.

The upcoming IPL season is particularly important for the Mumbai Indians as they aim to secure a record sixth title. Led by Hardik Pandya, the team will begin their campaign against KKR on March 29 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.

Then MI will next face the Delhi Capitals on April 4 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The team will face the Rajasthan Royals on April 7, then the Mumbai will face the RCB on April 12.

The funny moment between Rohit Sharma and Shardul Thakur was shared by the Mumbai Indians on social media. It was the clip of a recent practice net session when Rohit Sharma faced a delivery from Shardul. 

The MI opener confidently dispatched the ball high into the stands, showcasing his power and timing. As the ball sailed away, Rohit Sharma jokingly told Shardul Thakur to ‘catch it in the stands,’ sparking laughter around the training ground.

This light-hearted exchange quickly caught attention online. This is not the first time the two players have shared a fun moment. 

Last season, when Shardul Thakur was part of the Lucknow Super Giants setup, Rohit had teased him with a humorous remark during a match, which also went viral among fans.
