Ishan Kishan has been one of the most shining prospects for Sunrisers Hyderabad on the evening of the SRH vs RCB clash at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

However, England batter Phil Salt had other intentions. While Ishan Kishan salvaged Hyderabad's ship from a tattering 29 for 3 at the end of 4.2 overs to 155/6 in 16 overs, Phil Salt helped RCB regain momentum by dismissing the talented India batter.

Salt Takes Inspiration From AB De Villiers

Salt produced a dream moment in the field with the athletic stunner he pulled off at Chinnaswamy, almost like RCB veteran AB de Villiers' famous gravity-defying boundary catch that earned him superhero comparisons like 'Spider-Man' and 'Superman'.

Nevertheless, Salt’s precision with the catch and awareness near the boundary led to Kishan's dismissal, who otherwise was the 'hero' of the night for SRH.

Ishan Kishan As The Saviour Of SRH

Kishan came as a saviour for SRH at number three after Abhishek Sharma's early wicket in the third over. Dismissed for just seven runs, Abhishek's promising T20 World Cup 2026 form failed to continue into the IPL.

Travis Head too departed soon, as Kishan smashed a 27-ball 50 to help SRH recover, stitching a 97-run partnership with Heinrich Klaasen. Kishan held SRH’s innings together, which had reached 49 runs at the end of the powerplay.

How Phil Salt Ended Kishan's Century Hopes With A Blinder

During the last ball of Abhinandan Singh, the debutant for RCB, in the 16th over, a low full toss outside the off-stump was hammered by Ishan Kishan with an open bat face to slice it over point.

Salt, stationed nearby, sprinted hard to his right and stretched his right hand towards the ball, diving in a gravity-defying motion. The ball stuck to Salt’s palms as he landed and slid across the grass, stopping just inches away from the boundary.

The stunning effort near the ropes had the Chinnaswamy crowd on its feet, as Phil Salt arguably pulled off the catch of the decade.

The AB de Villiers-like effort had Kishan in the pocket, as SRH crumbled like a house of cards after his departure. Harsh Dubey, Harshal Patel failed to live up to expectations with the bat after Ishan Kishan's 38-ball 80.

It was only Verma’s 18-ball 43 that gave SRH hope of reaching the 200-run mark, as RCB now chase a target of 202 at the end of 20 overs.

RCB Eye Mammoth Target In Front Of SRH Attack

RCB boast a playing XI decorated with top-order batters like Phil Salt, Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Jitesh Sharma, among others. With Salt outstanding in the field, he will be expected to deliver with the bat as well when they come out to chase the mammoth target. In the World Cup, however, Salt was underwhelming.

He averaged 16.25, scoring just 130 runs from eight innings. He did maintain a decent strike rate of 158.54. His only notable knock came against Sri Lanka, where he scored 62 off 40 balls.

Nevertheless, he would look to replicate his IPL 2025 heroics at Chinnaswamy, where he scored 403 runs from 13 appearances, averaging 33.58 with an impressive strike rate of 175.98.
